Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Perform emergency water extraction using portable and truck-mounted units to mitigate water damage in residential and commercial properties.
  • Set up, strategically place, and monitor industrial-grade drying equipment, including dehumidifiers, air movers, and specialized heaters.
  • Execute controlled, selective demolition of non-salvageable building materials like drywall, flooring, cabinetry, and insulation using various hand and power tools.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning of structures and personal belongings affected by fire, smoke, and soot, utilizing specialized cleaning agents and industry-approved techniques.
  • Assist certified technicians with mold remediation protocols, including setting up containment barriers and operating HEPA-filtered air scrubbers and vacuums.
  • Carefully inventory, pack-out, and transport clients' personal property and contents to a secure facility for cleaning, restoration, and storage.
  • Perform post-demolition structural cleaning and apply antimicrobial or sanitizing agents to prevent microbial growth and ensure a safe environment for rebuild.
  • Handle the removal and proper disposal of all debris and damaged building materials in accordance with environmental regulations and company safety standards.
  • Assist with board-up and tarping services for properties damaged by fire, storms, or vandalism to secure them from the elements and unauthorized entry.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of carpets, upholstery, and hard surfaces using professional-grade equipment and cleaning solutions.
  • Document moisture readings using moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras under the guidance of a Lead Technician to track the drying process.
  • Perform controlled demolition tasks with precision to preserve unaffected areas of the property and prepare sites for the reconstruction phase.
  • Support team members in the careful moving and resetting of contents and furniture after the restoration process is complete.
  • Respond rapidly to emergency service calls as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of restoration equipment, ensuring it is clean, safe, and in proper working order for every job.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and inventory of the assigned work vehicle and warehouse equipment.
  • Complete accurate daily project documentation, including digital time sheets, work orders, and equipment usage logs.
  • Communicate respectfully and compassionately with clients, providing basic job status updates and reassurance during a stressful time.
  • Adhere to and actively promote all health and safety policies (including OSHA standards) on every job site, without exception.
  • Participate in ongoing company training to develop new skills and stay current on the latest restoration techniques and safety standards.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certifications, such as WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician).

Relevant Fields of Study:

  • While no specific field of study is required, a background in Construction Trades or skilled labour provides a strong foundation.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years in a related field. This is often an entry-level position with significant on-the-job training.

Preferred: While direct restoration experience is a plus, a background in construction, demolition, general labour, or other physically demanding roles is highly valued. A strong willingness to learn the trade and an unwavering commitment to safety and customer service are the most important qualifications for success.
