Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Actively greet and engage with every customer, creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere from the moment they enter the store.
  • Provide dynamic and personalized customer service by listening to customer needs and offering insightful product recommendations to match.
  • Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of all products, including features, benefits, pricing, and brand story, to confidently answer customer questions.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system with accuracy and efficiency to process transactions, including sales, returns, and exchanges, while adhering to all cash handling procedures.
  • Drive sales and achieve personal and team-based sales goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through proactive customer engagement and upselling/cross-selling techniques.
  • Build lasting relationships with customers through effective clienteling, capturing customer information, and performing follow-up communication to encourage repeat business.
  • Guide customers through the entire sales process, from initial discovery and product trial to the final purchase decision.
  • Assist customers in fitting rooms, providing feedback, and retrieving alternative sizes or styles to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to prevent loss and theft while ensuring a safe shopping environment for everyone.
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns with empathy and professionalism, seeking to find a positive resolution and escalating to management when necessary.
  • Stay informed about current promotions, marketing campaigns, and in-store events to effectively communicate them to customers.
  • Support omnichannel services, such as Buy Online, Pick-up In-Store (BOPIS) and online order fulfillment.
  • Demonstrate a passion for the brand and an ability to authentically communicate the brand's values and mission to customers.
  • Consistently seek opportunities to improve the customer experience by gathering feedback and sharing insights with the management team.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist with the receiving, unpacking, and processing of new merchandise shipments, ensuring all items are accounted for and ready for the sales floor.
  • Participate in regular inventory management tasks, including cycle counts, stock consolidation, and maintaining an organized stockroom.
  • Execute visual merchandising directives by setting up displays, arranging merchandise, and ensuring the store is consistently presented according to brand standards.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of the sales floor, fitting rooms, cash wrap area, and back-of-house.
  • Replenish merchandise on the sales floor to ensure all sizes and styles are available and the store looks full and appealing.
  • Prepare the store for opening and closing by following established operational procedures and checklists.

  • Point of Sale (POS) System Operation: Proficiency in using retail POS software for transactions, returns, and reporting.
  • Cash Handling: Accuracy in managing cash, processing credit/debit payments, and balancing a cash drawer.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years in a customer-facing role (retail, hospitality, or service industry).

Preferred: 1+ years of direct experience in a retail sales environment, particularly within a similar product category (e.g., apparel, electronics, luxury goods).
