Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform complex troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures on robotic systems (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, Yaskawa) and automated equipment to identify root causes of malfunctions and implement effective, lasting repairs.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules on robotic arms, controllers, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) to minimize downtime and ensure peak performance.
- Install, configure, and integrate new robotic systems and automation cells onto the production floor, ensuring they meet operational specifications and safety standards.
- Calibrate robot positions, service grippers, and perform mastering procedures to ensure high levels of accuracy and repeatability in automated tasks.
- Edit and optimize existing robot programs to improve cycle times, increase reliability, and adapt to changes in production requirements.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics and diagrams to assist in troubleshooting and repairs.
- Respond swiftly to unscheduled downtime events, applying systematic problem-solving techniques to get equipment back online as quickly and safely as possible.
- Perform major repairs and rebuilds of robotic equipment, including the replacement of servo motors, drives, reducers, and other critical components.
- Utilize Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and controller pendants to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot robotic systems.
- Manage and maintain a detailed inventory of spare parts, ensuring critical components are on hand to support maintenance and repair activities.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments on all automated equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA and internal safety protocols.
- Interface with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to diagnose and resolve communication and integration issues between robots and other machinery.
- Provide technical support and guidance to machine operators and other maintenance staff on the proper operation and care of robotic equipment.
- Document all maintenance, repair, and programming activities meticulously in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist engineers in the development and testing of new robotic applications and proof-of-concept projects.
