Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive process discovery workshops and interviews with business stakeholders to identify and assess potential opportunities for robotic process automation.
  • Analyze, deconstruct, and meticulously document existing "as-is" business processes using flowcharting tools and detailed step-by-step narratives.
  • Design and conceptualize optimized "to-be" automated processes, incorporating best practices for automation and process re-engineering to maximize efficiency gains.
  • Create highly detailed and unambiguous Process Design Documents (PDDs), Solution Design Documents (SDDs), and other requirement artifacts that serve as the primary guide for RPA developers.
  • Collaborate closely with business subject matter experts to gather, clarify, and validate all business rules, logic, and exception handling scenarios for the automation.
  • Act as the central point of communication between the business units and the RPA development team, translating business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Perform complexity and feasibility assessments for potential automation initiatives, providing data-driven recommendations to the Automation Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Develop and present compelling business cases for proposed automation projects, including calculating potential ROI, cost savings, and FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) benefits.
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by creating test scripts, coordinating with business testers, and meticulously tracking and triaging defects.
  • Ensure that the developed automation solution fully meets the agreed-upon business requirements and delivers the expected value upon deployment.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed automations on existing roles, processes, and systems, and contribute to change management and communication plans.
  • Maintain and manage the automation pipeline, working with business leaders to prioritize initiatives based on strategic value and potential impact.
  • Provide support during the hypercare period post-deployment, helping to resolve any initial issues and ensuring a smooth transition of the bot to the support team.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics to measure the effectiveness and benefits realized from deployed automations.
  • Serve as a key resource and advocate for automation within the organization, educating stakeholders on the capabilities and benefits of RPA technology.

Secondary Functions

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the RPA delivery methodology, standards, and internal knowledge base within the Automation Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior business analysts or business users on automation best practices and process documentation standards.
  • Support the RPA technical team by clarifying requirement queries and providing business context throughout the development and testing lifecycle.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings as part of an agile delivery team.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess the actual benefits realized against the initial business case and identify lessons learned.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in RPA and intelligent automation technologies (e.g., OCR, Machine Learning, AI) and assess their potential application.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory analysis to identify new areas for process improvement and automation.
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure and security teams to ensure that automation solutions comply with all corporate governance and security policies.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Process Mapping & Modeling: Expertise in using tools like MS Visio, Lucidchart, or similar software to create clear, detailed process and workflow diagrams.
  • RPA Platform Knowledge: Strong conceptual understanding (and often hands-on familiarity) with leading RPA platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism.
  • Requirements Elicitation & Documentation: Proven ability to create high-quality, detailed documentation, particularly Process Design Documents (PDDs).
