Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory sales plan to achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals and growth objectives.
  • Proactively hunt for new business opportunities by identifying, qualifying, and engaging potential customers in key target industries such as manufacturing, construction, energy, and transportation.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting executive-level relationships with key accounts, acting as their primary point of contact and strategic safety partner.
  • Conduct comprehensive on-site hazard assessments and needs analyses to understand customer pain points and safety compliance gaps.
  • Deliver compelling, value-driven sales presentations and product demonstrations to a wide range of audiences, from safety managers to C-level executives.
  • Master the features, benefits, and technical specifications of a diverse safety product portfolio, including PPE, fall protection, gas detection, and respiratory protection.
  • Drive the entire sales cycle from initial lead generation and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and closing of the deal.
  • Skillfully negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with clients to ensure mutually beneficial agreements and long-term partnerships.
  • Provide expert consultation to clients on OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant safety standards and regulations, helping them achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Create and present customized safety solutions and proposals that directly address the specific needs and challenges identified at client sites.
  • Generate and manage a robust sales pipeline, providing accurate and timely sales forecasts to leadership.
  • Actively participate in industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to build brand awareness and generate new leads.
  • Train end-users on the proper use, care, and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure maximum effectiveness and user adoption.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts to review performance, ensure satisfaction, and identify up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Collaborate with distribution partners to expand market penetration and co-manage sales opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Respond effectively to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs), preparing detailed and professional submissions.

Secondary Functions

  • Meticulously maintain and update customer information and sales activities within the company's CRM system (e.g., Salesforce) for accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to provide field-level feedback for the development of new sales collateral, campaigns, and lead-generation initiatives.
  • Partner with the product management team to communicate customer feedback, market trends, and new product opportunities discovered in the field.
  • Participate in regular sales team meetings, training sessions, and business review calls to share best practices and report on territory performance.
  • Assist the finance and credit departments in managing customer accounts, resolving billing inquiries, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Prepare and submit regular activity reports, expense reports, and territory analyses as required by sales management.

  • Technical Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fall protection, gas detection, respiratory solutions, and related safety products.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, CSA, and other relevant local and national safety standards.
  • CRM Proficiency: Advanced skills in using CRM platforms like Salesforce.com or Microsoft Dynamics to manage pipelines, track activities, and forecast sales.
  • Territory Management: Proven ability to strategically plan and manage a geographic sales territory to maximize coverage and opportunity.
  • Consultative Selling: Expertise in using a needs-based, solution-oriented sales methodology.
  • Contract Negotiation: Skill in negotiating complex sales agreements, pricing, and terms.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-7 years

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of documented success in an outside B2B sales role, preferably selling a technical or industrial product.
  • Direct experience selling safety products, PPE, or related industrial supplies into manufacturing, construction, or energy markets is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
