Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Prepare a wide variety of fresh, high-quality salads, sandwiches, wraps, and grain bowls according to established recipes and customer specifications.
- Wash, chop, slice, and dice a diverse range of vegetables, fruits, meats, and cheeses, ensuring optimal freshness and portion control.
- Expertly operate standard kitchen equipment such as commercial slicers, food processors, knives, and panini presses in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assemble and garnish food items with precision and an eye for detail, ensuring they are visually appealing and meet our brand's quality standards.
- Accurately read and follow order tickets from our POS system, ensuring all special requests, dietary restrictions, and modifications are correctly implemented.
- Manage and rotate inventory of all sandwich and salad station ingredients, practicing a strict 'First-In, First-Out' (FIFO) method to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work station, including all surfaces, equipment, and storage areas, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper temperature controls for hot and cold items, hand washing procedures, and cross-contamination prevention.
- Monitor ingredient levels throughout the shift and communicate restocking needs to the kitchen manager or supervisor in a timely manner to prevent service disruptions.
- Package finished products for dine-in, takeout, and delivery, ensuring they are secure, properly labeled, and maintain their integrity during transport.
- Manage multiple orders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet or exceed service time goals.
- Label, date, and properly store all prepped ingredients and prepared food items according to health department standards to ensure food safety and quality.
Secondary Functions
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests, answering questions about menu items, and offering knowledgeable recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of house-made dressings, sauces, spreads, and other condiments to complement the salad and sandwich offerings.
- Contribute to menu development by suggesting new sandwich or salad combinations and providing constructive feedback on existing items.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep cooks, to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow during peak service hours.
- Perform opening and closing duties for the salad/sandwich station, including pre-stocking for the day, breakdown, and deep cleaning tasks.
- Assist with receiving and unpacking supplier deliveries, verifying order accuracy, and properly storing all perishable and non-perishable items.
- Handle customer orders at the point-of-sale (POS) system, process payments accurately, and manage cash drawers as needed.
- Support catering order preparation, ensuring large-quantity orders for events are fulfilled accurately, beautifully presented, and on schedule.
