The Pool Attendant is a key brand ambassador, proactively engaging with guests, enforcing safety regulations with a positive demeanor, and maintaining the aesthetic appeal and hygiene of the entire pool environment. Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively greet and welcome all guests upon their arrival to the pool area, providing a warm and friendly point of contact to enhance the guest experience.
  • Diligently monitor all activity within the pool and on the surrounding deck to ensure adherence to posted safety rules and facility policies, addressing any violations courteously but firmly.
  • Manage the distribution and collection of guest towels, ensuring a clean and ample supply is always available and that used towels are properly deposited for laundering.
  • Maintain the pristine presentation of the pool deck by systematically arranging lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas to create an organized and visually appealing layout.
  • Conduct routine inspections and cleaning of the pool and spa, including skimming the water's surface for debris and testing water chemistry for appropriate pH and chlorine levels.
  • Respond immediately and professionally to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, providing accurate information about pool amenities, hours, and other property services.
  • Assist guests with setting up their personal space, including adjusting umbrellas for shade and providing assistance to families with children or guests with special needs.
  • Enforce facility access policies by verifying guest eligibility, such as checking for room keys, membership cards, or resident passes, to maintain exclusivity and security.
  • Regularly wipe down and sanitize high-touch surfaces, including lounge chairs, tables, handrails, and water fountains, to uphold health and hygiene standards.
  • Immediately report any safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment, or unusual incidents to the supervising manager or engineering department for prompt resolution.
  • Provide attentive poolside food and beverage service, including taking orders, processing payments, and delivering items to guests, in accordance with service standards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all emergency procedures, including the location of first aid kits, emergency phones, and protocols for medical or weather-related incidents.

Secondary Functions

  • Perform detailed opening and closing procedures for the pool area, including unlocking/locking gates, setting up/storing furniture, and conducting initial/final safety checks.
  • Assist the recreation or activities team in the setup, execution, and breakdown of special poolside events, parties, or member functions.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts of all pool-related supplies, such as towels, chemicals, and first-aid provisions, and report replenishment needs to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all back-of-house storage areas associated with the pool, including towel huts and chemical storage rooms.
  • Collaborate with the groundskeeping or maintenance team to address larger issues like landscaping needs or structural repairs around the pool deck.
  • Collect and return lost and found items according to the property's established procedures, ensuring items are logged and stored securely.
  • Actively solicit guest feedback regarding their pool experience to identify opportunities for improvement in service or facilities.
  • Keep accurate and detailed logs of water quality tests, incident reports, and daily operational activities for departmental records and compliance.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Water Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of water safety principles and ability to recognize swimmers in distress.
  • Basic Pool Maintenance: Knowledge of using pool skimmers, brushes, and vacuums for routine cleaning tasks.
  • Water Chemistry Testing: Ability to use water testing kits to accurately measure and record chlorine, pH, and alkalinity levels.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification: Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid is highly preferred and often required.
  • Point of Sale (POS) Operation: Experience or ability to quickly learn to operate POS systems for food, beverage, or retail transactions.
  • Safety Protocol Enforcement: Skill in confidently and politely enforcing rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years

Preferred:
