Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct regular and random patrols of the premises, both on foot and by vehicle, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Operate and monitor surveillance equipment, including CCTV cameras and alarms, and inspect property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activity.
- Write detailed and accurate narrative reports and logs of daily activities, irregularities, and incidents such as property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances in a timely and professional manner, assessing the situation and taking appropriate action.
- Act as a first responder to medical emergencies, accidents, or fires, providing first aid, CPR, or using an AED until emergency services arrive.
- Enforce company policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises, issuing verbal warnings and reporting violations.
- Control traffic by directing drivers at facility entrances, parking areas, and other high-traffic zones on the property.
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients, their employees, and visitors, offering assistance, information, and directions in a courteous manner.
- Lock and unlock facilities at designated times, ensuring that all unauthorized personnel have vacated the premises.
- Escort employees and visitors to their vehicles upon request to ensure their personal safety, particularly during evening hours.
- Inspect and test fire and security systems, such as alarms and sprinklers, and report any malfunctions to the appropriate maintenance personnel.
- Handle all emergency situations with a calm and composed demeanor, effectively coordinating with law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency responders.
- Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
- Perform security checks of buildings and equipment, identifying and reporting potential hazards or security vulnerabilities.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the site's layout, emergency evacuation plans, and designated safety zones.
- Challenge and verify the credentials of individuals in restricted areas and tactfully remove unauthorized persons.
- Receive, screen, and log incoming packages and mail, checking for any potential threats.
- Manage and maintain control of keys and access cards, issuing them to authorized personnel and tracking their use.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter criminal activity and create a sense of safety for all individuals on the property.
Secondary Functions
- Provide support during special events or high-traffic periods, assisting with crowd control and guest management.
- Assist facilities management with minor operational tasks or observations during patrols, such as identifying lighting outages or water leaks.
- Participate in ongoing security training programs and drills to maintain and enhance job-related skills.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of site-specific security procedures and post orders.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency in operating surveillance and communication systems (CCTV, two-way radios).
- Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, and AED operation (certification often required).
- Competence in writing clear, concise, and accurate incident reports.
- Understanding of state and local laws pertaining to security activities, such as use of force and powers of arrest.

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must possess a valid state-issued Security Guard License (Guard Card) or have the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 0-3 years in a security or related role.
