Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Safely operate a company-owned service vehicle (e.g., box truck, cargo van) in compliance with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, meticulously checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, and lights to ensure roadworthiness and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Expertly plan and follow daily delivery routes using GPS and other navigation tools to maximize efficiency and ensure on-time arrivals.
- Securely and accurately load and unload products onto the vehicle, using proper lifting techniques and material handling equipment like dollies, hand trucks, or pallet jacks.
- Provide best-in-class customer service during every delivery, greeting clients professionally, addressing their questions, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery contents against shipping documents or invoices, obtaining necessary signatures and proof of delivery through handheld scanners or paper manifests.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the dispatch team, providing updates on delivery status, traffic delays, or any on-site issues.
- Handle and process customer payments, including cash, checks, or credit card transactions, ensuring all funds are accounted for and secured.
- Manage product returns and exchanges according to company protocol, ensuring items are correctly documented and returned to the warehouse in good condition.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle's interior and exterior, projecting a professional image of the company at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and proper load securement techniques.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor delivery discrepancies or customer concerns independently, escalating more complex issues to a supervisor when necessary.
