A Table Games Dealer is the orchestrator of the gaming experience at the casino. This individual is directly responsible for the proper and efficient operation of table games like Blackjack, Poker, Roulette, or Craps. Beyond the technical mechanics of running a game, the Dealer is a frontline entertainer and customer service ambassador. Their primary purpose is to ensure game integrity, follow strict regulations, and accurately handle financial transactions (chips), all while creating a positive and engaging environment that encourages players to return. Success in this role hinges on a unique combination of mathematical aptitude, manual dexterity, and a genuinely personable demeanor. Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct the play of assigned table games, such as Blackjack, Poker, Roulette, or Craps, ensuring strict adherence to all established rules, policies, and procedures of the casino.
  • Skillfully manage the pace of the game, creating an engaging and efficient flow that balances player enjoyment with the operational needs of the casino floor.
  • Accurately exchange paper currency for gaming chips and proficiently handle player buy-ins and cash-outs at the table, ensuring all transactions are verbally confirmed and properly recorded.
  • Calculate, verify, and pay out winning bets and collect losing bets with precision and speed, minimizing errors and maintaining the financial integrity of the game.
  • Maintain a high level of game security and integrity by continuously monitoring all financial transactions and play activity at the table to protect the game and casino assets.
  • Provide exceptional, friendly, and personalized customer service to all players, greeting them warmly, answering questions, and creating a welcoming and entertaining atmosphere.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the rules of the game, betting options, and house procedures to new or inexperienced players, enhancing their understanding and enjoyment.
  • Demonstrate expert-level manual dexterity in shuffling cards, distributing cards, spinning the roulette wheel, or managing dice, performing these tasks with professionalism and flair.
  • Maintain constant awareness of the table's chip inventory, discreetly signaling for fills or credits as needed to ensure the game is not interrupted.
  • Proactively identify and resolve minor customer disputes or issues at the table level, using strong communication and de-escalation skills to maintain a positive environment.
  • Immediately notify the Floor Supervisor or Pit Manager of any unusual play, potential cheating, or irregularities observed at the table, including any suspected intoxicated or disruptive patrons.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local gaming regulations, including but not limited to Title 31/AML (Anti-Money Laundering) reporting requirements for large currency transactions.
  • Maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance and adhere to all uniform and grooming standards as required by the casino's policies.
  • Manage player ratings and tracking by accurately inputting player data into the casino's player tracking system, ensuring proper recording of buy-ins and play time.
  • Create a lively and interactive experience by engaging players in light conversation and celebrating wins, contributing to the overall entertainment value of the casino.
  • Remain focused and vigilant during long periods of play, maintaining high levels of concentration to ensure game accuracy and security at all times.
  • Assume responsibility for the security and accountability of all table game assets assigned to you, including cards, dice, chips, and equipment during your shift.
  • Collaborate effectively with other dealers, supervisors, and casino staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation across the entire casino floor.
  • Perform accurate opening and closing procedures for the gaming table, including verifying the table's bankroll and ensuring all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Inform players about and encourage participation in casino promotions, special events, and loyalty programs to enhance their overall guest experience.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited dealing school.
  • Must be able to pass a gaming audition and obtain the required state gaming license.
