- Perform routine and complex repairs on steel and fiberglass tanks, which may include patching, welding, grinding, and applying specialized coatings and linings.
- Handle and manage both hazardous and non-hazardous materials, ensuring proper containment, labeling, and disposal in strict accordance with EPA, RCRA, and DOT regulations.
- Set up, operate, and maintain ventilation systems, fall protection equipment, and other safety apparatus essential for working in and around tanks and at heights.
- Execute atmospheric testing of confined spaces using multi-gas meters to monitor for oxygen levels, flammable gases, and toxic vapors prior to and during entry.
- Assist in the preparation and review of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and site-specific safety plans to mitigate risks before any work begins.
- Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing on tanks and associated piping to verify structural integrity and ensure they are leak-free after repairs.
- Skillfully operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, man-lifts, and skid steers to move materials and equipment around the job site.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures in tank systems, including valves, pumps, piping, and instrumentation, and implement effective solutions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to understand project scope and execute tasks to precise specifications.
