Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Safely operate a motor vehicle in a wide variety of traffic, weather, and lighting conditions to transport passengers between their chosen locations.
  • Maintain a thorough and consistently updated knowledge of city layouts, street names, major landmarks, and optimal routes to ensure timely and efficient travel.
  • Utilize modern GPS navigation systems, mobile applications like Waze or Google Maps, and traditional maps effectively to determine the most efficient travel paths.
  • Respond promptly to dispatch calls and digital ride requests from mobile apps, confirming passenger identity, pickup details, and destination accurately before starting a trip.
  • Provide a superior level of customer service by warmly greeting passengers, offering assistance with luggage or mobility aids, and ensuring a comfortable and pleasant ride.
  • Adhere strictly to all state and local traffic laws, speed limits, and transportation authority regulations to guarantee passenger, public, and personal safety.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, methodically checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and signals to ensure the vehicle is in safe, road-worthy condition.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle to a high professional standard, providing a hygienic and welcoming environment for every passenger.
  • Process payments for fares accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit cards, and mobile payment systems, and provide correct change and receipts as requested.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with the dispatch office or support team regarding your status, location, and any significant incidents or delays that may occur.
  • Manage ride schedules and personal time effectively to minimize idle periods and maximize the number of completed trips during a given shift.
  • Handle passenger inquiries, special requests, and any complaints with a high degree of patience, professionalism, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Demonstrate strong situational awareness to constantly scan the environment, anticipating and avoiding potential road hazards, accidents, and security risks.
  • Keep a detailed and accurate electronic or written log of all trips, mileage, fares collected, and fuel consumption for financial and regulatory reporting purposes.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions, traffic accidents, or moving violations to management and/or the appropriate authorities immediately and in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide courteous assistance to passengers with special needs, including individuals with disabilities or the elderly, ensuring their safe entry, transit, and exit from the vehicle.
  • Stay well-informed about local events, conventions, road closures, and construction projects that could impact travel times and require alternate routing.
  • Operate the vehicle's two-way radio or mobile data terminal in a professional manner and in full accordance with company and FCC regulations.
  • Secure all passenger belongings, including luggage, shopping bags, and personal items, properly within the vehicle to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and a positive, helpful demeanor at all times, serving as a positive ambassador for the transportation service.
  • Follow established company procedures for handling lost and found items, ensuring they are documented, secured, and returned to the owner whenever possible.
