Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Plan, architect, and manage the end-to-end technical execution of live, virtual, and hybrid events, ensuring stability and high production quality.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for all project stakeholders, including creative producers, clients, engineering teams, and external vendors, effectively translating creative requirements into technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical production schedules, run-of-shows, and cue sheets, ensuring all technical elements are timed and executed precisely.
- Lead and direct technical crews (e.g., camera operators, audio engineers, graphics operators, streaming engineers) during rehearsals, pre-production, and live shows.
- Oversee the selection, setup, and operation of all production hardware, including video switchers, audio mixers, cameras, lighting, and encoding hardware.
- Manage and configure live streaming software (e.g., OBS, vMix, Wirecast) and cloud-based production platforms, optimizing settings for various distribution networks like YouTube, Twitch, and custom RTMP destinations.
- Design and validate video and audio signal flows, including the integration of remote-caller systems, graphics, and video playback sources.
- Conduct thorough technical rehearsals and stress tests to identify and mitigate potential points of failure before a live production.
- Provide real-time, on-air troubleshooting and problem-solving for any technical issues that arise, maintaining a calm and decisive presence to ensure minimal disruption to the production.
- Manage the technical aspects of the asset pipeline, ensuring all video, graphic, and audio assets are correctly formatted, delivered, and integrated into the production system.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging production technologies, software, and hardware to enhance capabilities and streamline workflows.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, gear lists, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for future productions.
- Collaborate closely with IT and network teams to ensure sufficient bandwidth and network stability for streaming and data-intensive operations.
