Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Supervise, mentor, and professionally develop a team of engineers and/or technicians, managing performance, conducting regular coaching sessions, and guiding career development.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the technical department, ensuring all tasks are effectively assigned, prioritized, and completed on schedule to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for the most complex and critical issues, providing expert, hands-on guidance to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the full lifecycle of technical projects from conception to completion, ensuring they align with business objectives, stay within budget, and meet deadlines.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce technical standards, documentation, best practices, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality, consistency, and operational safety.
  • Manage departmental resource allocation, including personnel assignments, equipment procurement, and software licensing, to optimize team productivity and project outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including project management, product development, and client services—to guarantee seamless integration and project execution.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, and formal performance reviews to foster a transparent, collaborative, and high-performance team culture.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and lead the implementation of new technologies, tools, and processes designed to improve the efficiency, performance, and scalability of technical operations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the technical team, such as system uptime, ticket resolution times, and project milestone completion rates.
  • Ensure the team's adherence to all industry regulations, data privacy standards, information security protocols, and internal company policies.
  • Lead comprehensive root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for major system failures or performance degradation, implementing robust corrective and preventative actions.
  • Participate in the departmental budgeting and forecasting process, managing operational expenses and preparing justifications for capital expenditures on technology and infrastructure.
  • Serve as the key liaison between the technical team and senior leadership, effectively translating complex technical concepts into clear business insights and progress reports.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and value is maximized.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by actively encouraging innovation, soliciting constructive feedback, and promoting professional development and certifications within the team.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle management of critical hardware and software infrastructure, including maintenance schedules, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for essential technical systems to minimize downtime and business impact.
  • Provide comprehensive technical training, documentation, and onboarding for new team members to accelerate their integration and ensure they are equipped for success.
