Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute comprehensive cleaning protocols across all assigned areas, including offices, lobbies, conference rooms, and hallways, to maintain a pristine and professional appearance.
- Perform detailed floor care duties, which include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-treating carpets and hard-surface flooring to remove dirt, debris, and stains.
- Thoroughly clean, sanitize, and disinfect all restroom facilities, including toilets, urinals, sinks, countertops, mirrors, and floors, ensuring a hygienic environment for all users.
- Systematically collect and dispose of trash, compost, and recycling from designated collection points throughout the facility in accordance with company and local disposal guidelines.
- Diligently restock consumable supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and kitchens, such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer, to ensure constant availability.
- Clean interior and exterior surfaces of windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions and tools to ensure they are free of streaks and smudges.
- Dust and wipe down all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including desks, countertops, windowsills, furniture, and fixtures, to remove dust, cobwebs, and allergens.
- Operate and maintain standard and industrial cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet extractors, ensuring they are in safe and effective working order.
- Respond promptly to and resolve immediate cleaning and sanitation needs, such as spills, accidents, or other unexpected messes, to mitigate safety hazards and maintain order.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the correct handling and dilution of cleaning chemicals per Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks as directed by the facilities manager, which may include stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets, or high-level dusting of vents and light fixtures.
- Secure the facility at the end of a shift as required, which can include locking doors and windows, turning off lights, and ensuring all designated areas are safe and orderly.
- Monitor the condition of the facility during cleaning rounds and promptly report any maintenance issues, damages, broken items, or safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of janitorial closets and storage areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are stored correctly, safely, and are easily accessible.
- Prepare and set up rooms or common areas for meetings and events, and perform post-event cleanup to return the space to its original, orderly state.
- Use a variety of cleaning agents, chemicals, and equipment to perform duties, demonstrating a clear understanding of which product is suitable for each specific task and surface.
- Follow established work schedules and detailed cleaning checklists to ensure all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standard within the allocated time.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces frequently and methodically, such as door handles, light switches, elevator buttons, and handrails, to help prevent the spread of germs.
