The Termite Technician is a field-based professional responsible for the complete lifecycle of termite control services. This includes conducting thorough property inspections to detect termite activity and conducive conditions, developing and executing effective treatment plans using industry-leading products and techniques, and communicating clearly with clients to explain findings and recommend solutions. The ideal candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing a daily route while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service to protect our clients' most valuable assets.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive and detailed inspections of residential and commercial properties, including interior and exterior areas, crawl spaces, attics, and basements, to accurately identify evidence of termite activity, damage, and conducive conditions.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate inspection reports and graphs, clearly diagramming findings, conducive conditions, and areas of concern for clients and for official real estate transaction documents (WDI/WDO reports).
  • Develop, present, and clearly explain customized treatment proposals and service agreements to clients based on inspection findings, outlining the scope of work, methodology, and value.
  • Perform a variety of termite treatments, including conventional liquid barrier applications which involve trenching, rodding, and drilling into concrete, soil, and masonry.
  • Expertly install, monitor, and service termite baiting systems (e.g., Sentricon, Trelona), meticulously documenting station activity and replenishing bait as required by manufacturer protocols.
  • Calculate, mix, and apply termiticides and other chemical agents in strict accordance with product labels, EPA regulations, and state laws to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Utilize a range of specialized tools and equipment, such as hammer drills, rotary saws, spray rigs, moisture meters, and infrared cameras, in a safe and proficient manner.
  • Educate customers on termite biology, signs of infestation, and the specific preventative measures they can take to protect their property from future threats.
  • Manage and optimize a daily service route to ensure all scheduled appointments are completed efficiently and on time, while maintaining a high standard of service.
  • Maintain proactive and professional communication with customers before, during, and after service to manage expectations, answer questions, and ensure total satisfaction.
  • Generate accurate and timely service tickets, invoices, and other required field documentation for each completed job using company software or mobile applications.
  • Prepare job sites meticulously by protecting the customer's property, which includes covering floors and belongings, and ensuring precise, clean execution of all physical work.
  • Follow up with customers after initial treatment to assess the effectiveness of the service and ensure the long-term success of the termite management plan.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to propose and sell additional company services, such as moisture control, pest exclusion, or general pest management, to existing clients.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain the assigned service vehicle and all company-issued equipment in a clean, organized, and fully operational condition, promptly reporting any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of products, chemicals, and supplies on the service vehicle to ensure preparedness for all scheduled work without delay.
  • Participate actively in mandatory, company-paid training and certification programs to stay current with the latest industry technologies, treatment methods, and safety standards.
  • Adhere rigorously to all company policies, safety protocols, and legal guidelines, including the consistent and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate effectively with office administrators, sales inspectors, and fellow technicians to ensure seamless service delivery, efficient scheduling, and a positive team culture.
  • Provide support for general pest control services during peak seasons or as needed, demonstrating versatility and a commitment to the team's success.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, serving as a positive and trustworthy ambassador for the company brand in every customer interaction.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Active state-issued pest control license or certification with a specific category endorsement for termite control.
  • In-depth knowledge of termite species, biology, behavior, and signs of infestation.
  • Proven experience with various treatment methods, including liquid termiticides (e.g., Termidor) and advanced baiting systems (e.g., Sentricon).
  • Proficiency in operating heavy-duty power tools, including hammer drills, grinders, and saws for slab and foundation treatments.
  • A valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and create accurate, legible diagrams for treatment proposals and reports.
  • Experience completing official Wood-Destroying Insect (WDI) or Wood-Destroying Organism (WDO) reports for real estate transactions.
  • Excellent physical condition, including the ability to work in confined spaces (crawling), lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50-75 lbs), and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Competency with mobile technology (smartphones, tablets) for route management, reporting, and communication.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 1-5 years in the pest control industry, with at least 1 year of direct experience specializing in termite inspection and treatment.

Preferred:

  • 3+ years as a dedicated Termite Technician with a proven track record of high performance, customer retention, and a state certification in termite control. Experience with both pre-construction and post-construction treatments is a significant plus.
