Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test procedures based on product specifications and engineering requirements to ensure full coverage of functionality and performance metrics.
- Conduct rigorous, hands-on testing of new and existing tools (including hand, power, pneumatic, and electronic tools) to evaluate their performance, durability, reliability, and safety against established benchmarks.

- Set up, calibrate, and maintain test environments and equipment, including organizing the test lab or workshop space and ensuring all necessary materials and fixtures are available for testing cycles.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand product requirements and provide early, actionable feedback on design for testability and potential user-facing issues.
- Simulate real-world usage scenarios, edge cases, and stress-test tools to their operational limits to identify potential failure points, ergonomic challenges, and long-term durability concerns.
- Analyze and interpret complex test data to generate comprehensive summary reports, highlighting key findings, performance trends, and actionable recommendations for product improvement or redesign.
- Participate actively in product design reviews and technical specification meetings, serving as the voice of quality and representing the end-user's perspective to influence product development from its earliest stages.
- Evaluate competitive products through systematic benchmarking to assess performance, features, and overall quality, providing insights that inform our own product strategy and design goals.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for standardized testing procedures, best practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the quality assurance department to ensure consistency and repeatability.
- Assist in the development and refinement of internal quality assurance standards, pass/fail criteria, and key performance metrics to continuously improve the effectiveness of the testing process.
- Manage the inventory of test units, prototypes, and competitor samples, ensuring they are properly logged, tracked, maintained, and stored securely.
- Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) with internal or external stakeholders to gather qualitative feedback on usability, ergonomics, intuitiveness, and overall user experience.
- Verify and validate that products comply with all relevant safety regulations, industry standards (e.g., UL, CE, ANSI), and internal quality policies before being approved for market release.
- Operate a variety of diagnostic and measurement equipment, such as dynamometers, force gauges, environmental chambers, data acquisition systems, and high-speed cameras to capture precise performance data.
- Provide expert technical support to other departments, such as marketing or customer service, by offering deep insights into product performance, capabilities, and limitations.
- Contribute to failure analysis investigations by carefully disassembling and inspecting failed units to help determine the root cause of in-field or test-related failures.
- Stay current with new testing methodologies, emerging technologies, and industry trends to bring innovative and more efficient testing techniques into the organization.
- Assess the clarity, accuracy, and completeness of user manuals, assembly instructions, and product labeling to ensure a positive and frustration-free out-of-box experience for the customer.
