Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Operate tractors of various sizes and horsepower safely and efficiently to transport materials, implements, and other equipment across farm, construction, or distribution sites.
Skillfully maneuver tractors and attached trailers into and out of tight loading docks, bays, and confined field areas with precision and care.
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractors and attachments, meticulously checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, and hydraulic systems to ensure operational safety.
Execute routine and preventative maintenance tasks, including lubricating parts, changing oil and filters, and making minor adjustments to keep equipment in peak condition.
Strictly adhere to all company, state, and federal safety regulations, traffic laws, and operational protocols to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
Prepare agricultural fields for planting by operating tractors with implements such as plows, discs, harrows, and cultivators to till and level the soil.
Assist in crop management activities throughout the growing season, including planting, spraying fertilizers or pesticides, and cultivating fields.
Operate and monitor modern precision agriculture technology, including GPS guidance systems, auto-steer, and variable rate application controllers, to optimize efficiency and yield.
Safely and securely load and unload materials, such as crops, soil, gravel, or palletized goods, from trailers and implements.
Maintain detailed and accurate daily logs of activities, including hours of operation, mileage, fuel consumption, and tasks performed, for record-keeping and reporting.
Hitch and unhitch various implements and trailers, ensuring all connections (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical) are secure and functioning correctly.
Monitor equipment performance during operation, listening for unusual noises and watching for signs of mechanical trouble to prevent breakdowns.
Effectively communicate with supervisors, field crews, and other operators to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow.
Operate tractor-pulled mowing or landscaping equipment to maintain grounds, roadsides, and non-crop areas.
