Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Meticulously examine, process, issue, advise, and amend a full range of trade finance instruments, including documentary and standby letters of credit (L/Cs), ensuring strict compliance with UCP 600, ISP98, and ISBP standards.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of documentary collections (inward and outward), from receipt and processing to payment and release, in accordance with URC 522.
- Conduct thorough document checking against letters of credit and collection instructions to identify discrepancies, communicating findings clearly to clients and negotiating solutions.
- Process and manage bank guarantees, performance bonds, and bid bonds, including issuance, amendment, and claim handling, ensuring the bank's and client's interests are protected.
- Facilitate trade financing solutions such as pre-shipment and post-shipment financing, forfaiting, and supply chain finance programs, assessing eligibility and managing the drawdown process.
- Act as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for corporate clients, relationship managers, and correspondent banks on all trade finance-related queries, providing expert advice and guidance.
- Ensure all transactions are screened for compliance with international sanctions, anti-money laundering (AML), and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations, escalating any potential red flags to the compliance department.
- Manage SWIFT messaging for trade finance transactions, including drafting, verifying, and releasing MT7xx and MT4xx series messages accurately and efficiently.
- Calculate, invoice, and collect fees, commissions, and charges associated with trade finance services, ensuring accurate accounting and revenue recognition.
- Investigate and resolve complex operational issues, discrepancies, and customer complaints in a timely and professional manner, minimizing operational risk and client dissatisfaction.
- Maintain and reconcile nostro accounts and internal ledgers related to trade finance transactions, ensuring all entries are posted correctly.
- Structure complex trade finance deals by collaborating with relationship managers and clients to understand their needs and recommend the most suitable products.
- Monitor and manage risk exposures associated with the trade finance portfolio, including country risk, correspondent bank risk, and client credit risk.
- Stay abreast of changes in international trade rules, regulations, and market practices (e.g., ICC updates, local regulations) and disseminate this knowledge within the team.
- Prepare and deliver regular and ad-hoc reporting on trade finance volumes, revenues, risk exposures, and operational metrics for management review.
- Participate in the testing and implementation of new trade finance systems, platforms, and product enhancements to improve efficiency and client experience.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Expertise in ICC Rules: In-depth knowledge of UCP 600, ISP98, ISBP 745, URC 522, and URDG 758 is non-negotiable.
- Document Examination: Proven ability to meticulously check complex shipping, commercial, and financial documents for compliance.
- SWIFT Proficiency: Hands-on experience with creating and interpreting trade-related SWIFT messages (MT7xx, MT4xx, MT2xx).
- Trade Finance Products: Comprehensive understanding of the structure and lifecycle of Letters of Credit, SBLCs, Guarantees, and Documentary Collections.
- Risk & Compliance: Strong knowledge of AML, KYC, and international sanctions (OFAC, UN, EU) screening procedures within a trade context.
