Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Adapt and transcreate high-impact marketing and advertising copy from a source language to a target language, ensuring it resonates emotionally and culturally with the local audience.
  • Conduct thorough linguistic and cultural quality assurance (LQA) on translated and transcreated assets to ensure they meet brand standards and project requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Localization and Project Managers to understand project scope, timelines, and specific client requirements for each transcreation task.
  • Develop, maintain, and update key linguistic assets, including glossaries, termbases, and comprehensive style guides, to ensure consistency across all multilingual content.
  • Perform in-depth research on local market trends, cultural nuances, idiomatic expressions, and competitor messaging to inform and enrich the transcreation process.
  • Act as a linguistic and cultural consultant for internal creative, marketing, and design teams during the initial concepting phase of global campaigns.
  • Transcreate and adapt a wide range of content types, including website copy, social media campaigns, email newsletters, video scripts, print ads, and in-app user interface text.
  • Ensure all adapted content adheres to local legal guidelines, advertising regulations, and cultural sensitivities to mitigate brand risk.
  • Help prepare creative briefs for external translation vendors, providing clear context, objectives, and cultural guidance for the source material.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative and culturally relevant headlines, taglines, and campaign concepts for international markets.
  • Serve as a key guardian of the brand voice in the target market, ensuring that all communications feel authentic and consistent across every channel.
  • Perform meticulous proofreading and editing of final copy to check for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and adherence to the established style guide.
  • Communicate and manage feedback loops with in-country stakeholders and reviewers to validate the cultural appropriateness and effectiveness of transcreated content.
  • Provide constructive, detailed feedback to external freelance translators and creative agencies to guide them in aligning with the brand's unique voice and tone.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the coordination of small-scale localization projects, including file preparation, vendor assignment, and delivery tracking using a Translation Management System (TMS).
  • Manage and organize localized files within content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) platforms, ensuring proper version control.
  • Assist in analyzing the performance of localized marketing campaigns, providing qualitative insights on how creative copy impacts user engagement in different markets.
  • Support the localization of SEO keywords and meta descriptions to improve search engine visibility and organic traffic in target international markets.
  • Conduct linguistic testing on localized websites, apps, and software to identify, report, and help resolve any linguistic bugs, typos, or display issues.
  • Prepare regular reports on linguistic quality trends, vendor performance, and project status for the Localization Manager.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and best practices in the localization, translation, and transcreation industry to contribute to process improvements.

  • Bilingual+ Proficiency: Exceptional, near-native proficiency in the target language (written and spoken), coupled with complete professional fluency in English.
  • Creative & Copywriting Talent: Demonstrable creative writing and advertising copywriting skills, with a portfolio showcasing the ability to craft compelling, persuasive, and imaginative copy.
  • Linguistic Asset Management: Experience in creating and maintaining style guides, glossaries, and termbases to ensure brand and linguistic consistency.
