Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on trucks and trailers.
- Perform preventive maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivelines, and differentials.
- Inspect, repair, and replace brake systems including air brakes, ABS components, and chambers.
- Perform suspension repairs including shocks, bushings, springs, and air ride systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems including wiring, lighting, starters, and charging systems.
- Inspect and repair steering systems, wheel ends, hubs, and bearings.
- Perform trailer repairs including doors, floors, frames, landing gear, and coupling devices.
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet federal and state safety regulations.
- Use diagnostic tools, scan tools, and software to troubleshoot engine and system faults.
- Repair or replace tires, wheels, and perform alignments as required.
- Respond to roadside breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when needed.
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately in fleet maintenance systems.
- Identify worn or damaged components and recommend repairs or replacements.
- Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and operational condition.
- Order, track, and manage parts and materials needed for repairs.
- Collaborate with fleet managers to prioritize repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, service manuals, and technical bulletins.
