Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance (PM) inspections on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, following standardized procedures and checklists.
Utilize advanced electronic diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, PACCAR Davie4, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link) to troubleshoot and identify faults in engines, transmissions, and after-treatment systems.
Conduct complete diagnostics and repairs on diesel engine systems, including fuel injectors, turbochargers, and engine control modules (ECMs).
Diagnose and repair complex electrical system issues, including wiring harnesses, lighting, starting systems, and charging circuits.
Service and overhaul braking systems, including air brakes, hydraulic brakes, and anti-lock braking systems (ABS), ensuring compliance with DOT standards.
Perform intricate repairs and overhauls on manual and automated transmissions, differentials, and driveline components.
Address and repair issues within the chassis and suspension systems, including steering components, leaf springs, and air-ride suspensions.
Conduct repairs and maintenance on HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems in commercial vehicle cabs.
Perform tire maintenance, including mounting, dismounting, balancing, and alignments to ensure vehicle safety and efficiency.
Diagnose and repair after-treatment systems, such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems.
Execute welding and fabrication tasks using MIG, TIG, or stick welding for structural repairs on frames, trailers, and other components.
Respond to and effectively manage road calls for disabled vehicles, performing emergency on-site repairs to get them operational.
Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics to guide the troubleshooting and repair process accurately.
Perform major engine work, including in-frame and out-of-frame overhauls, and replace major components like cylinder heads and crankshafts.
Service and repair hydraulic systems on specialized trucks, such as liftgates, dump trucks, or vocational vehicles.
