Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Accurately measure clients and end-users for individual and group uniform orders, taking into account posture, range of motion and garment use to ensure consistent fit across sizes and styles.
- Interpret technical uniform specifications, corporate dress code requirements, and detailed purchase orders to determine precise alteration and construction procedures.

- Execute large-batch alterations and production runs for schools, hospitals, hospitality groups and corporate accounts, coordinating workflow to meet tight deadlines while maintaining consistent quality.
- Repair and reinforce high-wear areas such as crotches, knees, elbows, seams and pocket openings using hand-stitching, bartack machines and patch techniques suitable for uniform fabrics.
- Apply logos, name tapes, insignia and embroidered patches accurately to uniforms, ensuring alignment, durability and compliance with placement standards.
- Conduct final quality inspections for fit, stitch integrity, hem evenness, and finish, documenting and correcting defects prior to garment delivery.
- Prepare garments for fittings and final delivery including pressing, steaming, minor finishing, re-checking measurements and packaging to company presentation standards.

- Test and recommend fabric-specific sewing techniques and seam finishes (e.g., flat-felled, serged, taped seams) for durability and comfort, particularly for workwear and protective garments.
- Ensure compliance with brand and regulatory requirements for specialized uniforms (e.g., medical scrubs, school uniforms, military insignia placement) and coordinate required certifications when applicable.
- Handle custom tailoring requests such as uniform jacket re-styling or bespoke modifications, balancing aesthetic considerations with functional requirements and company policies.
- Manage urgent and rush alteration requests, reprioritizing work, adjusting staffing and communicating revised delivery expectations to clients.
- Implement continuous improvement suggestions to increase throughput, reduce rework and standardize measurement templates and standard operating procedures across the tailoring team.
- Support seasonal large-volume projects such as back-to-school uniform programs, corporate onboarding uniforms and hospitality turnover by contributing to capacity planning and temporary staffing recommendations.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain clean and organized workstations and alteration rooms to maximize efficiency and present a professional workshop environment for client visits.
