The role requires collaboration with UX designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, legal, and localization teams to ensure content is consistent, usable, measurable, and scalable across platforms and languages. Success is defined by improved task completion, reduced support contacts, higher conversion on CTAs, and measurable improvements in user satisfaction.

  • UX Designer or Product Designer with a focus on content

Advancement To:

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Write clear, concise, user-centered microcopy for onboarding, error states, empty states, calls-to-action, notifications, tooltips, and system messages that reduce user friction and increase completion rates.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent voice, tone, and messaging framework across products; create practical voice-and-tone guidelines and examples for product teams to follow.
  • Partner with UX designers to integrate copy into wireframes and prototypes, iterating copy alongside interaction design to improve usability and conversion.
  • Collaborate with product managers to align content with product goals, success metrics, and feature requirements; define content acceptance criteria for releases.
  • Conduct and synthesize qualitative research (usability tests, interviews, diary studies) and quantitative analysis (funnels, A/B tests, analytics) to validate content decisions and iterate.
  • Design and run content-focused A/B tests and experiments to measure the impact of wording, CTAs, and flows on activation, retention, and task completion.
  • Own in-product messaging strategy including contextual prompts, progressive disclosure, in-app help, and onboarding sequences to improve time-to-value.
  • Create and maintain content inventories and perform regular content audits to reduce duplication, improve findability, and scale content reuse across the product.
  • Establish and steward a content design system and pattern library (microcopy components, labels, error patterns) that integrates with the design system and front-end components.
  • Collaborate with localization and engineering teams to ensure copy is internationalization-friendly, respects character limits, and supports pluralization and cultural nuances.
  • Review and edit copy from cross-functional partners (marketing, legal, support) to ensure it meets product UX standards and doesn’t degrade task flows.
  • Ensure all product content complies with accessibility (WCAG) and legal/regulatory requirements; write accessible labels, alt text, and screen-reader friendly content.
  • Create onboarding and training materials for customer-facing teams (support, sales) about new product copy, flows, and content changes to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Translate research insights into content recommendations and prioritized backlog items for sprint planning; write tickets with clear acceptance criteria for engineers.
  • Monitor user feedback channels (surveys, NPS comments, support tickets, app reviews) for language-related patterns and propose content fixes that reduce support volume.
  • Mentor and coach junior writers, designers, and PMs on content best practices, copy critique, and effective content reviews.
  • Maintain editorial calendars and coordinate content deliveries for product releases and cross-functional campaigns to ensure timely, high-quality content publishing.
  • Prototype conversational flows and dialog for chatbots, voice interfaces, or guided workflows; apply conversation design principles where applicable.
  • Create metrics dashboards and regular reports that tie content changes to business outcomes (conversion, retention, CSAT, task completion) and inform roadmap decisions.
  • Partner with Brand and Marketing to align in-product voice with external messaging while preserving clarity, utility, and task-first priorities.
  • Rapidly produce clear, context-appropriate content for incident communications, product outages, or urgent feature updates in collaboration with Ops and PR teams.
  • Maintain a forward-looking content roadmap that balances short-term fixes, strategic voice/tone work, and long-term content platform investments.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc content audits, content tagging, and taxonomy improvements to aid discovery and content analytics.
  • Contribute to the organization's content strategy and roadmap; recommend tools and processes for scaling content operations (CMS, translation management, design-system integration).
  • Collaborate with business units to translate content needs into engineering and localization requirements; help scope translation and formatting constraints.
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and agile ceremonies to prioritize content work and unblock cross-functional delivery.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and career development planning for content team members; participate in writing exercises and portfolio reviews.
