Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end user experience engagements: define scope, research approach, deliverables, timelines, and success metrics that align UX outcomes with business KPIs and product strategy.
  • Conduct and synthesize generative and evaluative user research (interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies, surveys) and translate insights into actionable personas, journey maps, and opportunity statements.
  • Design and iterate high-fidelity prototypes and interaction flows using Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or comparable tools, ensuring prototypes communicate behavior, edge cases, and micro-interactions for hand-off to engineering.
  • Facilitate cross-functional design sprints and co-creation workshops to rapidly align stakeholders, prioritize features, and validate concepts with target users.
  • Run usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), analyze results, and produce prioritized recommendations that drive iterative product improvements and measurable increases in task success and user satisfaction.
  • Develop, document, and evangelize design systems and component libraries that establish consistent visual language, interaction patterns, and accessibility standards across web and native products.
  • Partner closely with product managers and engineers to translate UX requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans while ensuring fidelity to design intent during development sprints.
  • Define and track UX success metrics (e.g., task completion, time-on-task, NPS, SUS, conversion rates), present findings to leadership, and use data to inform design trade-offs and roadmap decisions.
  • Lead accessibility audits and remediation planning to ensure compliance with WCAG guidelines, implement inclusive design practices, and advise on assistive technology compatibility.
  • Create compelling UX deliverables for stakeholders: user journey maps, service blueprints, wireframes, clickable prototypes, annotated design specs, and executive summaries that tie UX work to ROI.
  • Mentor and coach junior designers and researchers, providing design critique, career guidance, and process improvements to uplift team capability and maintain high-quality UX outputs.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis to identify industry patterns, emerging interaction models, and opportunities to differentiate the product through superior experience design.
  • Manage multiple client or internal engagements simultaneously, balancing scope, resource constraints, and stakeholder expectations while delivering on-time and high-quality UX artifacts.
  • Drive product discovery efforts by validating hypotheses, defining MVP experiences, and establishing go/no-go criteria for feature investments based on qualitative and quantitative evidence.
  • Translate complex technical or domain problems into simple, human-centered design solutions, using storytelling, data visualization, and persuasive UX writing to guide user behavior.
  • Collaborate with analytics and data teams to design instrumentation for UX experiments and A/B tests, ensuring experiments are statistically valid and deliver meaningful insights.
  • Produce and maintain UX research repositories and insights libraries to surface recurring user needs, pain points, and feature requests across product lines.
  • Advocate for user-centered culture across the organization by presenting research findings, running design thinking sessions, and coaching stakeholders on user-first decision making.
  • Coordinate vendor and stakeholder relationships for outsourced research or design work, manage contracts, review deliverables, and ensure alignment with internal UX standards.
  • Create onboarding and training materials for new UX features and workflows, ensuring both internal teams and customers understand product value and usage patterns.

Secondary Functions

  • Provide ad-hoc UX audits and heuristic evaluations for new product features or marketing landing pages, offering quick-win recommendations to reduce friction and improve conversions.
  • Contribute to the organization's UX strategy and multi-quarter roadmap by identifying cross-product UX opportunities and resource needs.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate customer feedback, support tickets, and analytics into prioritized UX improvements and engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and agile ceremonies to ensure UX tasks are appropriately scoped, estimated, and sequenced.
  • Maintain and evolve component documentation and accessibility checklists to speed up engineering implementation and ensure consistency across releases.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
