Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  1. Lead, mentor, and supervise a cross-functional UX team (interaction designers, visual designers, researchers, and UX writers), including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and workload allocation.
  2. Define and evangelize a cohesive UX strategy and design vision that aligns with product roadmaps and business objectives; translate strategy into actionable quarterly and sprint-level goals.
  3. Oversee and prioritize the UX backlog, balancing user research needs, design improvements, technical constraints, and business impact to deliver timely, validated features.
  4. Drive user research programs: define research plans, supervise usability studies, remote and in-person testing, recruitment, and synthesis to surface actionable insights.
  5. Ensure high-quality interaction and visual design deliverables (wireframes, prototypes, design specs) using Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or equivalent tools and maintain rigorous handoff practices for engineering.
  6. Maintain and evolve the design system and component library to guarantee consistency, scalability, and faster feature delivery across multiple products and platforms.
  7. Champion inclusive, accessible design by enforcing accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+), ARIA best practices, and conducting accessibility audits and remediation plans.
  8. Collaborate daily with product managers, engineering leads, data analysts, and marketing to incorporate user insights into product decisions and measure UX impact with quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  9. Establish and track UX KPIs and adoption metrics (task success, NPS, CSAT, usability scores, time-on-task, conversion-rate) and report outcomes to stakeholders.
  10. Lead concept ideation and co-creation sessions (design sprints, workshops, stakeholder reviews) to align cross-functional teams on user-centered solutions.
  11. Create high-fidelity clickable prototypes for complex flows to validate interactions and edge-cases with users and stakeholders before development.
  12. Drive A/B testing strategy for UI/UX experiments in partnership with analytics and product teams to validate hypotheses and iterate designs based on results.
  13. Oversee the creation and maintenance of customer journey maps, service blueprints, personas, and user scenario documentation to inform product strategy.
  14. Coordinate cross-disciplinary reviews and design critiques to maintain quality, promote constructive feedback, and accelerate team growth.
  15. Manage project timelines, resource planning, scope negotiation, and risk mitigation to ensure UX deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.
  16. Serve as the primary UX liaison for senior leadership and external partners, presenting research findings, design rationale, and ROI of UX investments.
  17. Implement and improve design operations processes (versioning, documentation, handoff checklists, QA) to increase team efficiency and cross-team collaboration.
  18. Mentor and onboard new designers and researchers, creating tailored learning plans, setting objectives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  19. Collaborate with engineering to ensure feasible technical implementations, review code handoffs for UI quality, and support QA in validating UX acceptance criteria.
  20. Manage vendor and contractor relationships for specialized research or design work, ensuring deliverables meet company standards and budgets.
  21. Drive post-launch analysis and iterative design cycles using user feedback, session recordings, analytics, support tickets, and performance metrics to refine product experiences.
  22. Advocate for product accessibility, privacy-by-design, and ethical UX practices across the organization, influencing roadmaps and compliance efforts.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc research requests and exploratory analytics in partnership with data teams to answer urgent product questions and inform rapid iterations.
  • Contribute to the organization’s UX strategy, design principles, and long-term product experience roadmap.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to translate user needs into technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies, ensuring UX work is integrated into development cycles and delivery timelines.
  • Produce executive summaries and visual artifacts for stakeholder briefings to accelerate decision-making and secure alignment.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Expert proficiency in modern UX design tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, Zeplin, or comparable platforms.
  • Proficient with prototyping tools and interaction design (Principle, Framer, ProtoPie) to communicate complex behaviors.
  • Strong user research skills: usability testing, moderated/unmoderated studies, contextual inquiry, surveys, card sorting, and affinity mapping.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries with tokens, documentation, and versioning.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, responsive frameworks, basic JavaScript) to improve designer-developer collaboration.
  • Knowledge of analytics and experiment tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Optimizely, or equivalent) for measuring UX impact.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+), inclusive design practices, and assistive technologies.
  • Skilled in information architecture, interaction design, and creating wireframes, flows, and site maps for complex systems.
  • Experience with collaborative whiteboarding and facilitation tools (Miro, Mural, FigJam) to run workshops and design sprints.
  • Familiarity with product management frameworks, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and delivery lifecycle integration.
  • Strong documentation skills: creating UX specs, acceptance criteria, research reports, and executive briefs.
  • Experience with customer journey mapping, persona development, and service design methodologies.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in HCI, Design, Human Factors, or related discipline; or equivalent professional experience and portfolio demonstrating leadership in UX.
