Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Provide high-level technical assistance to national health ministries and partners on the strategic planning, implementation, and rigorous evaluation of immunization programs.
- Develop and guide the adaptation of evidence-based strategies to enhance vaccine coverage and equity, with a special focus on reaching zero-dose children and introducing new vaccines.
- Conduct in-depth assessments of national immunization systems, identifying critical gaps and opportunities for improvement across service delivery, supply chain, and program management.
- Lead the development and refinement of key national immunization documents, such as Comprehensive Multi-Year Plans (cMYPs), and support the preparation of funding applications for Gavi and other donors.
- Analyze and interpret complex epidemiological, surveillance, and program data to monitor trends in vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) and inform evidence-based decision-making.
- Design and champion robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to meticulously track progress against national and global immunization targets.
- Offer expert guidance on the introduction of new vaccines, including conducting readiness assessments and post-introduction evaluations (PIEs) to ensure smooth integration.
- Facilitate high-level stakeholder coordination between government bodies, UN agencies (WHO, UNICEF), civil society, and private sector partners to build consensus and align efforts.
- Develop and deliver targeted capacity-building workshops and training programs for healthcare managers and policymakers to strengthen local expertise.
- Advise on the creation and execution of sophisticated demand generation and risk communication strategies to counter vaccine hesitancy and build community confidence.
- Support the strengthening of national pharmacovigilance systems for monitoring and responding to Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI).
- Contribute directly to resource mobilization efforts by authoring compelling technical proposals, concept notes, and reports for international donors.
