Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Assist senior scientists in the design, execution, and troubleshooting of a variety of laboratory experiments to evaluate vaccine candidates, including in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
  • Perform a range of standard molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as aseptic cell culture, plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting, with precision and consistency.
  • Execute and help optimize key immunological assays, including ELISA, flow cytometry, and neutralization assays, to measure immune responses to vaccination.
  • Meticulously document all experimental procedures, raw data, and observations in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) in compliance with company standards and good documentation practices.
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews on relevant scientific topics to support ongoing research projects, inform experimental design, and contribute to team knowledge.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental data using statistical software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, R), and prepare clear, concise data presentations for internal team meetings.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient laboratory environment by adhering to all safety guidelines, managing reagent stocks, and assisting with equipment upkeep.
  • Support the characterization of viral vectors, proteins, or mRNA constructs used as vaccine platforms, using biophysical or biochemical methods.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documents, including study protocols, research reports, and summaries for internal review.
  • Participate actively in project team meetings, lab meetings, and scientific seminars, offering insights and learning from the broader research community.
  • Support preclinical activities by assisting in the preparation and analysis of samples from animal studies, ensuring proper handling and tracking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members from discovery, process development, and analytical departments to advance project milestones.
  • Aid in the development and validation of new analytical methods to assess vaccine quality, potency, and stability.
  • Support clinical operations by assisting with the tracking and management of clinical trial documents, ensuring they are maintained according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Perform exploratory analysis of preclinical or clinical datasets to identify trends, correlations, and key insights related to vaccine safety and immunogenicity.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to answer novel scientific questions as they arise.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap by providing feedback on data collection tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements by documenting processes and desired outcomes.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team, gaining exposure to project management methodologies.
  • Assist in the creation of presentation materials (slides, posters) for internal and potentially external scientific conferences.
  • Help manage laboratory inventory and procurement by tracking supplies and coordinating orders.
  • Participate in journal clubs to critically evaluate and discuss recent scientific publications.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Aseptic Cell Culture: Proficiency in maintaining and manipulating mammalian cell lines in a sterile environment.
  • Immunological Assays: Hands-on experience with fundamental techniques like ELISA and/or multi-color flow cytometry for analyzing immune cell populations and functions.
  • Molecular Biology Techniques: Practical knowledge of core methods such as PCR, qPCR, cloning, and DNA/RNA extraction.
  • Data Analysis & Visualization: Competency in using software such as GraphPad Prism, Excel, or a programming language (R, Python) for statistical analysis and graphical representation of data.
  • Scientific Documentation: Experience with detailed record-keeping, preferably using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), and an understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline. Must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study.

  • Currently pursuing a Master of Science (MS) or PhD, or a recent graduate from such a program.

Preferred:
