Primary Functions

  • Safely operate a company-provided delivery van (e.g., Sprinter, Ford Transit) in a variety of weather and traffic conditions, strictly adhering to all state and federal traffic laws and DOT regulations.
  • Execute a high volume of daily deliveries by following a pre-determined, optimized route, while also having the ability to adapt to real-time changes and traffic delays.
  • Meticulously load and unload packages and goods onto the van, ensuring they are properly secured, organized, and protected to prevent damage during transit.
  • Utilize handheld electronic scanners and mobile applications to accurately track packages, manage delivery manifests, obtain proof of delivery (signatures, photos), and communicate status updates.
  • Provide exceptional, friendly, and professional customer service during every delivery interaction, serving as a positive brand ambassador for the organization.
  • Physically handle and lift packages of varying weights, often up to 50-75 lbs, and maneuver them using appropriate equipment or techniques when necessary.
  • Navigate delivery routes efficiently using GPS devices and mapping applications, while also developing a strong working knowledge of the designated delivery area.
  • Maintain a precise delivery log and complete all required paperwork, including vehicle inspection reports, mileage logs, and delivery confirmation records, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Follow specific delivery instructions provided by customers or dispatch, such as leaving packages in designated safe locations or obtaining specific recipient signatures.
  • Troubleshoot minor delivery issues in the field, such as incorrect addresses or inaccessible locations, and communicate effectively with dispatch to find a resolution.
  • Collect payments for cash-on-delivery (COD) orders where applicable, ensuring all transactions are handled securely and accurately recorded.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery van to check for mechanical issues, safety concerns, and fluid levels, reporting any defects immediately.
  • Adhere to a strict delivery schedule, managing time effectively to meet delivery windows and company performance metrics for on-time delivery rates.
  • Maintain constant communication with the dispatch team to report progress, delays, or any incidents that occur on the route.
  • Ensure the interior and exterior of the delivery vehicle are kept clean, organized, and presentable to maintain a professional company image.

  • Vehicle Operation & Inspection: Ability to safely operate commercial vans and perform routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections.
  • Knowledge of Traffic Laws: Comprehensive understanding and adherence to local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Physical Stamina & Strength: The physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy packages (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day and to get in and out of a vehicle frequently.
