Primary Functions
- Direct and oversee all inbound and outbound transportation logistics for finished vehicles, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted flow through the entire supply chain.
- Strategically develop and manage a robust network of transportation carriers (truck, rail, ocean freight), including performance evaluation, rate negotiation, and relationship building to ensure optimal service levels.

- Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and any international shipping requirements.
- Negotiate complex freight contracts and service level agreements with 3rd party logistics (3PL) providers and asset-based carriers to secure favorable terms and reliable capacity.
- Develop and implement comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all vehicle logistics processes to ensure consistency, quality, and operational excellence.
- Manage the logistics budget, including forecasting monthly and annual transportation expenditures and analyzing variances between actual and planned costs.
- Collaborate closely with internal departments such as Sales, Production Planning, and Finance to align logistics activities with overall business objectives and sales forecasts.
- Utilize and champion the use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics technologies to optimize planning, execution, and visibility.
- Oversee yard management operations at vehicle distribution centers (VDCs), ensuring efficient vehicle flow, storage, and processing.
- Lead and resolve the claims process for in-transit damages, working with carriers, surveyors, and insurance providers to minimize financial loss.
- Prepare and present regular, detailed reports on logistics performance and strategic initiatives to senior management.
- Conduct continuous market analysis to stay ahead of industry trends, technological advancements, and shifts in carrier capacity or pricing.
