Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive and engaging vehicle walk-arounds and demonstrations, highlighting key technological features, performance capabilities, and safety systems.
  • Serve as the dealership's subject matter expert on all vehicle models, including powertrains, infotainment systems, connectivity features, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
  • Provide personalized consultations to prospective buyers to understand their lifestyle, driving habits, and technical requirements, and recommend the most suitable vehicle models.
  • Master and articulate the technical specifications and benefits of electric (EV), hybrid (PHEV), and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to a diverse customer base.
  • Manage the entire customer sales journey, from initial inquiry and lead follow-up to final vehicle delivery, ensuring a seamless and premium customer experience.
  • Utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system daily to log all customer interactions, track sales progress, and manage a pipeline of prospective buyers.
  • Accompany customers on test drives, expertly demonstrating vehicle dynamics, performance modes, and unique features in a real-world setting.
  • Clearly explain financing options, lease programs, and warranty packages, guiding customers through the financial aspects of the purchase with transparency.
  • Stay continuously updated on the latest automotive industry trends, new vehicle launches, competitive models, and emerging technologies through ongoing training and self-study.
  • Assist customers with the post-purchase setup of their new vehicle's technology, including pairing phones, configuring navigation, and personalizing vehicle settings for an optimal ownership experience.
  • Generate new sales leads through proactive networking, customer referrals, and participation in dealership-sponsored events and community outreach.
  • Prepare and present sales proposals, quotes, and purchase agreements with accuracy and clarity, ensuring all documentation is completed correctly.
  • Collaborate closely with the service department to understand common technical issues and vehicle maintenance schedules, providing a holistic ownership perspective to customers.
  • Strive to achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets and customer satisfaction index (CSI) goals set by dealership management.
  • Negotiate vehicle pricing and trade-in values fairly and professionally, aiming for a mutually beneficial agreement that upholds dealership gross profit objectives.
  • Perform detailed and celebratory vehicle delivery presentations, ensuring the customer is completely comfortable and knowledgeable about their new vehicle before they drive off.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns regarding vehicle technology and functionality promptly and with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Maintain a pristine and professional appearance of the showroom and vehicle inventory, ensuring all display models are clean, charged, and ready for demonstration.
  • Participate actively in all sales meetings and training sessions, contributing insights on customer feedback, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
  • Conduct thorough needs-analysis interviews with clients to accurately determine the best vehicle fit for their personal or business use.
  • Evaluate and appraise trade-in vehicles by performing a detailed inspection, road test, and condition report to help determine a fair market value.
  • Follow up with sold customers systematically to ensure their continued satisfaction, build long-term relationships, and encourage repeat business and referrals.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc requests from management for competitive analysis reports and customer demographic insights.
  • Contribute to the dealership's digital marketing strategy by providing content ideas for social media, such as video walk-arounds or tech-tip segments.
  • Collaborate with the F&I department to ensure a smooth transition for the customer from the sales agreement to the final financing and paperwork phase.
  • Participate in off-site marketing events, vehicle showcases, and community engagement activities to promote the brand and generate qualified leads.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Deep Automotive Technical Knowledge: Profound understanding of vehicle mechanics, powertrains (EV, PHEV, ICE), and complex electronic systems.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5 years of combined experience in automotive sales, service advising, or a technical customer-facing role.

Preferred: Direct experience as an OEM Brand Specialist, Product Genius, or in a role focused on electric vehicle (EV) sales is highly advantageous. A background as an automotive technician with a desire to move into a sales-focused role is also a strong foundation.
