Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively source and identify promising investment opportunities through extensive networking, industry research, event attendance, and data-driven sourcing strategies.
  • Conduct initial screening and rigorous evaluation of inbound deal flow to determine alignment with our firm's investment thesis and criteria.
  • Lead and execute comprehensive due diligence on potential investments, covering market sizing, competitive landscape, product-market fit, team assessment, and technology validation.
  • Develop complex financial models to analyze business performance, unit economics, and potential return outcomes, including valuation analysis, cap table modeling, and exit scenarios.
  • Author and present detailed investment memorandums for the partnership, clearly articulating the investment thesis, key risks, and data-backed recommendations.
  • Build and cultivate a strong, diverse network of entrepreneurs, co-investors, academics, and industry experts to enhance deal flow and market intelligence.
  • Actively engage with founders and management teams to gain a deep understanding of their vision, strategy, and operational capabilities.
  • Perform deep-dive industry and market research to identify and map emerging trends, helping to shape and refine the firm's investment theses.
  • Conduct thorough competitive analysis to understand a target company's differentiation and defensibility within its market.
  • Interview industry experts and potential customers to validate a startup's value proposition and market traction.
  • Assist in negotiating term sheets and structuring investments, working alongside senior team members and legal counsel.
  • Provide hands-on support to portfolio companies, assisting with strategic initiatives, financial planning, talent acquisition, and preparation for future fundraising rounds.
  • Monitor and track the performance of portfolio companies, analyzing KPIs and preparing regular updates for internal review.

Secondary Functions

  • Manage and maintain the firm’s CRM system (e.g., Affinity, Salesforce) to ensure accurate and up-to-date tracking of deal flow, contacts, and portfolio data.
  • Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for our Limited Partners (LPs), summarizing fund performance and portfolio company progress.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, demo days, and ecosystem events to build our brand and strengthen our network.
  • Author thought leadership content, such as blog posts, market analyses, and sector landscapes, to highlight the firm's expertise and perspective.
  • Support the planning and execution of firm-sponsored events, including founder summits and LP meetings.
  • Assist with ad-hoc strategic projects and internal operational improvements to enhance the firm's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the partnership to explore and develop new investment theses in nascent technology sectors.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Financial Modeling & Valuation: Demonstrated expertise in building detailed financial models (DCF, comps, LBOs) and understanding various valuation methodologies for early-stage companies.
  • Due Diligence: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive, multi-faceted due diligence on private companies, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative findings.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Skill in performing both top-down and bottom-up market sizing and qualitative analysis of industry trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing large datasets to extract actionable insights. Experience with SQL, Python, or data visualization tools is a strong plus.
  • Pitch Deck Analysis: Ability to quickly dissect a pitch deck, identify key metrics, and formulate critical questions.
  • Cap Table Management: Understanding of capitalization tables, dilution, and deal structuring mechanics in venture financing.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a top-tier university with a record of strong academic performance.

Relevant Fields of Study:

  • Finance, Economics, Business Administration
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical/STEM field

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 1-4 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a highly analytical and demanding role, such as investment banking, management consulting, private equity, corporate development, or a business/strategy role at a high-growth technology startup. Direct experience in venture capital or as a startup founder is highly valued.
