Primary Functions
A Venue Security professional's day-to-day duties are varied and demand a high level of awareness and engagement. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a constant, visible, and professional security presence to deter illegal activity and reassure guests and staff.
- Proactively monitor crowd dynamics and guest behavior throughout the venue to anticipate and prevent potential security issues or disturbances.
- Conduct thorough but respectful screening of guests and their belongings, including bag checks and the use of metal detectors or wands, to prevent prohibited items from entering.
- Control access points to the venue, verifying tickets, credentials, and IDs to ensure only authorized individuals enter designated areas, including backstage and VIP zones.
- Skillfully de-escalate verbal and physical altercations between guests, employing conflict resolution techniques to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Respond swiftly and appropriately to all security alerts, alarms, and emergency situations, including medical incidents, fires, or evacuations, following established protocols.
- Meticulously document all security incidents, observations, and activities in detailed, clear, and accurate reports for legal, insurance, and operational review.
- Enforce all venue policies and regulations consistently and fairly, including rules regarding alcohol consumption, smoking, and prohibited behaviors.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting guests with directions, answering questions, and offering information to enhance their overall experience.
- Patrol assigned areas of the venue, both interior and exterior, to identify potential security risks, safety hazards, or suspicious activities.
- Operate and monitor CCTV surveillance systems to observe crowd behavior and identify potential incidents in real-time.
- Communicate effectively with the security command center and other team members using two-way radios, ensuring a clear and constant flow of information.
- Secure restricted areas, ensuring that access is limited to credentialed personnel and protecting sensitive equipment, performer property, and venue assets.
- Manage and direct guest queues and crowd flow during entry, exit, and intermission to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement.
- Act as a first responder for medical emergencies, providing initial aid such as CPR or First Aid until professional medical personnel arrive on the scene.
- Collaborate closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel who may be on-site during large events.
- Conduct regular inspections of emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment to ensure they are unobstructed and fully functional.
- Escort artists, VIPs, or other designated personnel as required, ensuring their safe passage through public and private areas of the venue.
- Identify individuals who may be intoxicated or under the influence and take appropriate action in line with venue policy and local laws to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
- Assist in the complete lockdown and securing of the venue after all guests have departed, conducting a final sweep for stragglers or security issues.
- Intervene to stop unauthorized recording or photography where prohibited, communicating the policy politely but firmly to guests.
- Safeguard lost and found items, properly logging them and assisting guests in recovering their lost property.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with the compilation of post-event security summaries and incident analysis reports.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of security protocols and emergency action plans based on real-world observations.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Possession of a valid State Security Guard License (e.g., Guard Card, PERC Card).
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
