Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively identify, reproduce, and meticulously document software defects, graphical glitches, and gameplay balance issues in a clear and detailed manner.
  • Author and execute comprehensive test plans, checklists, and test cases to verify functionality, stability, and performance across various platforms (PC, console, mobile).
  • Provide timely, empathetic, and accurate support to players through various channels including email, forums, social media, and in-game ticketing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of player-facing issues, including account problems, billing inquiries, technical complications, and gameplay-related questions.
  • Act as the voice of the player by gathering, analyzing, and reporting community feedback, sentiment, and emerging trends to production and development teams.
  • Master game-specific tools to investigate and verify player-reported issues, and to assist with live game operations and events.
  • Maintain and update internal and external knowledge bases, FAQs, and support documentation to empower players to self-serve.
  • Monitor community channels (like Discord, Reddit, and forums) to identify widespread issues, gauge player sentiment, and engage with the community in a professional manner.
  • Perform regression, compatibility, and exploratory testing on new builds, patches, and content updates to ensure quality before release.
  • Verify bug fixes and other changes implemented by the development team to ensure they have resolved the original issue without creating new ones.
  • Collaborate closely with QA, Development, and Community teams to ensure a unified understanding of current issues and player feedback.
  • Escalate critical, game-breaking bugs and widespread service issues to the appropriate stakeholders with a sense of urgency and clarity.
  • Create detailed, easy-to-understand bug reports that include steps for reproduction, screenshots, video captures, and relevant logs.
  • Participate in game reviews and provide constructive, detailed feedback on new features, content, and overall gameplay experience from a player-centric perspective.
  • Assist in the moderation of official game communities, enforcing rules and guidelines to foster a positive and inclusive environment.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to investigate trends in player behavior or bug reports.
  • Contribute to the organization's player support strategy and help refine its tools and processes.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Bug Tracking Software: Deep proficiency with industry-standard bug tracking databases such as JIRA, Hansoft, DevTrack, or Azure DevOps.
  • Player Support Platforms: Experience using CRM and support ticketing systems like Zendesk, Helpshift, or Intercom.
  • Test Case Management: Familiarity with test management tools like TestRail, Zephyr, or Quality Center for creating and executing test plans.
  • Game Platform Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the hardware, software, and compliance requirements for at least one major gaming platform (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android).
  • Genre Mastery: Deep and demonstrable expertise in the mechanics, loops, and player expectations of specific game genres (e.g., MMO, FPS, MOBA, RPG).
