Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Install, configure, and meticulously test video conferencing hardware (e.g., Cisco, Poly, Neat) and integrated audio/visual systems in conference rooms and event spaces.
  • Provide real-time, white-glove technical support for high-priority meetings and live events, including operating video switchers, audio mixers, and presentation systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware, software, and network-related issues affecting video quality, audio clarity, and system connectivity.
  • Perform proactive preventative maintenance, including firmware updates, system health checks, and calibration of all AV equipment to ensure reliability and peak performance.
  • Manage and administer the back-end video infrastructure, which can include Multipoint Control Units (MCUs), gateways, and cloud-based video administration portals.
  • Conduct comprehensive end-user training sessions and create easy-to-understand documentation to empower employees to use collaboration tools effectively.
  • Set up and tear down temporary AV systems for special events, ensuring all video, audio, and lighting equipment is correctly installed, tested, and struck.
  • Utilize network monitoring and diagnostic tools to actively monitor system health and Quality of Service (QoS) for video streams, proactively identifying potential failures.
  • Collaborate directly with network engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve network transport issues that impact real-time video and audio performance.
  • Maintain a precise inventory of all video and AV assets, managing equipment lifecycle, coordinating RMAs for faulty hardware, and tracking repair statuses.
  • Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation, including as-built drawings, signal flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user guides.
  • Assist AV engineers and project managers in the design and implementation of new video system installations or technology refresh projects.
  • Manage enterprise video platforms for recording, live streaming, and video-on-demand (VOD) hosting, including content encoding and metadata management.
  • Conduct detailed site surveys to evaluate environmental factors like acoustics, lighting, and power/network readiness for new AV system deployments.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and integration partners for specialized installations, advanced support escalations, and equipment procurement.
  • Operate and maintain PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera systems and associated control surfaces for managed events and recordings.
  • Troubleshoot and support integrated AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron) to ensure room automation functions as designed.
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support for critical system outages or high-profile events as part of a team rotation.
  • Decommission and responsibly dispose of outdated AV equipment in accordance with company policy and environmental regulations.
  • Perform daily room checks to confirm all video and AV systems are online, functional, and ready for use.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Deep proficiency with modern video conferencing platforms and hardware, including Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Cisco Webex devices, and Poly systems.
  • Strong knowledge of video and audio signaling protocols (SIP, H.323), streaming protocols (RTMP, SRT), and video codecs (H.264, H.265).
  • Hands-on experience with AV control systems from manufacturers like Crestron, AMX, or Extron, including basic troubleshooting and firmware management.
  • A solid understanding of fundamental networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, QoS) and their direct impact on real-time media transport.
  • Experience operating live production equipment such as video switchers (Blackmagic, Ross), audio mixers (Yamaha, Allen & Heath), and robotic cameras.
  • Familiarity with digital audio transport technologies like Dante or AES67 and experience with audio digital signal processors (DSPs) from Biamp or QSC.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and technical design documentation (e.g., signal flow diagrams, rack elevations).

Experience Requirements
