Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Direct and coordinate the daily operational activities of the virology laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and timely turnaround of all diagnostic tests.
Supervise, train, coach, and mentor a team of clinical laboratory scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Prepare the laboratory and its staff for successful regulatory inspections and audits, acting as a key representative during the inspection process.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), such as test turnaround times, error rates, and productivity, to identify trends and drive continuous process improvement.
Maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of complex laboratory instrumentation, including molecular platforms (PCR, sequencing) and automated immunoassay analyzers.
Create and manage staffing schedules, including on-call rotations, to guarantee adequate coverage for all shifts and operational needs.
Promote and enforce a culture of safety within the laboratory, ensuring compliance with all BSL-2/BSL-3 safety protocols and proper handling of infectious materials.
