Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework to systematically assess the performance, quality, and impact of all volunteer-driven programs.
  • Design, pilot, and deploy a variety of robust data collection instruments, including quantitative surveys, qualitative interview guides, focus group protocols, and direct observation tools.
  • Lead the full data lifecycle for evaluation projects, encompassing ethical data collection, thorough cleaning and preparation, in-depth analysis, and insightful interpretation.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling, and accessible reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored for diverse audiences like executive leadership, program staff, and external funders.
  • Conduct rigorous impact assessments to determine the short-term and long-term outcomes of volunteer engagement on the organization's mission and the beneficiaries served.
  • Collaborate with volunteer management leadership to establish, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for volunteer recruitment, retention, satisfaction, and overall program health.
  • Facilitate 'lessons learned' workshops and create structured feedback loops with program teams to ensure evaluation findings are understood and used for programmatic adjustments and innovation.
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of evaluation data within the organization's CRM or volunteer management system (e.g., Salesforce, Better Impact), ensuring data is clean, secure, and reportable.
  • Author the monitoring and evaluation sections of grant proposals and funder reports, clearly articulating program outcomes, impact metrics, and the methodology for measuring success.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of current best practices, emerging trends, and innovative methodologies in program evaluation, impact measurement, and volunteerism.
  • Partner with marketing and communications teams to craft powerful, data-driven narratives and impact stories that showcase volunteer contributions for use in campaigns, annual reports, and social media.
  • Provide targeted training and ongoing technical assistance to program staff on data collection best practices, ethical considerations, and the effective use of evaluation tools.
  • Perform routine data audits and quality checks to ensure consistency and accuracy across different programs and data entry points, building trust in the organization's data.
  • Develop and refine logic models and theories of change for new and existing programs to create a clear, shared understanding of the pathway from volunteer activities to desired outcomes.

  • Advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for complex data manipulation, analysis, and visualization (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros).

Educational Background
