Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, implement, and continually evaluate a comprehensive, strategic volunteer program that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Oversee the entire volunteer lifecycle, including the design of targeted recruitment strategies, creation of an efficient screening and application process, and development of a warm and informative onboarding experience.
  • Design and execute diverse and creative recruitment campaigns using online platforms, community partnerships, and public events to attract a broad and skilled volunteer base that reflects the community we serve.
  • Create, facilitate, and continuously improve engaging and role-specific training modules to ensure all volunteers are well-equipped, confident, and competent in their assigned duties.
  • Manage the strategic placement, scheduling, and supervision of volunteers across various departments and programs, ensuring an optimal match between volunteer skills/interests and organizational needs.
  • Develop, manage, and champion a robust volunteer recognition and retention program, fostering a culture of appreciation and making volunteers feel valued and connected to the mission.
  • Establish, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness, growth, and impact of the volunteer program, using data to drive decisions.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain the volunteer program budget, ensuring the responsible and efficient allocation of financial resources for recruitment, training, and appreciation initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary, accessible point of contact and dedicated advocate for all volunteers, skillfully addressing inquiries, providing support, and mediating any conflicts or issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate closely with department heads and program staff to conduct ongoing needs assessments, identify new opportunities for volunteer involvement, and develop clear, meaningful volunteer role descriptions.
  • Maintain impeccable and up-to-date volunteer records, including applications, background checks, hours served, and contact information, utilizing volunteer management software (e.g., Volgistics, Better Impact).
  • Develop, communicate, and consistently enforce all volunteer-related policies, procedures, and standards of conduct to ensure a safe, respectful, and professional environment for everyone.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong, lasting relationships with community partners, local businesses, schools, and civic groups to build sustainable volunteer pipelines and enhance the organization's community presence.
  • Create and distribute regular, engaging communications, such as newsletters, impact reports, and social media updates, to keep volunteers informed, connected, and motivated.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of volunteer appreciation events, networking opportunities, and other engagement activities designed to build a strong sense of community among volunteers.

Secondary Functions

  • Act as a key ambassador for the organization at community fairs, professional networking events, and public speaking engagements to promote volunteer opportunities and raise program visibility.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree
