Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and execute the strategic plan for warehouse and distribution center operations, setting clear annual objectives for throughput, on-time shipping, inventory accuracy, labor productivity and cost-per-unit that align with corporate supply chain goals.
  • Own P&L responsibility for assigned distribution facilities: prepare, manage and optimize operating budgets, forecast labor and transportation spend, control shrinkage and reduce waste to achieve margin targets.
  • Lead the design and continuous optimization of warehouse layouts, storage strategies, slotting plans and work flows to maximize space utilization, reduce travel time and improve picking accuracy and speed.
  • Oversee implementation, configuration and ongoing optimization of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and integration with ERP and TMS; drive automation projects and system upgrades to improve order cycle time and data fidelity.
  • Establish and monitor operational KPIs (e.g., OTIF, orders/hour, lines per hour, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock time); create and maintain dashboards and weekly/monthly executive reporting for senior leadership.

  • Implement and sustain a robust safety program—conduct periodic audits, training, incident root-cause investigations and corrective actions to reduce recordable incidents and ensure OSHA and company policy compliance.
  • Own inventory management processes: cycle counting programs, reconciliation, root-cause analysis for variances, disposition of obsolete stock and partnering with planning to reduce excess/stockouts.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen events, 5S, standard work) to increase throughput, reduce lead time and lower operating costs across the DC network.
  • Manage third-party warehouse providers, contract logistics partners and carriers—negotiate SLAs and contracts, monitor performance, and ensure service levels meet customer commitments.
  • Lead cross-functional projects for new product introductions, SKU rationalization, packaging optimization and returns/reverse logistics programs to improve operational simplicity and reduce cost.
