Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Supervise daily warehouse floor operations including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, and shipping to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on schedule; monitor workflow and adjust assignments to meet volume demands.

- Operate and supervise safe operation of material handling equipment (forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts), ensure certifications are current, and coordinate preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Manage inbound and outbound scheduling with carriers, verify manifests and bills of lading (BOLs), coordinate cross-dock activities, and resolve shipment discrepancies to maintain on-time delivery metrics.

- Coordinate and manage returns processing (RMA), inspect returned goods, determine disposition (restock, repair, scrap), and update inventory records to minimize financial impacts.
- Lead onboarding and hands-on training programs for new hires, including equipment training, WMS navigation, safety protocols, and productivity expectations to shorten ramp-up time and improve retention.
- Manage labor scheduling, overtime control, and shift coverage; forecast labor needs during peak seasons (holiday surges, promotions) and adjust resource plans to balance service levels and labor cost targets.
- Conduct regular audits of packing quality, labeling accuracy, and shipment documentation to ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements and regulatory standards.
- Communicate cross-functionally with purchasing, customer service, transportation, and production teams to prioritize inbound receipts, expedite critical SKUs, and coordinate special handling or staging requirements.
- Supervise handling and storage of hazardous materials (where applicable) in accordance with DOT, EPA, and company protocols; ensure SDS accessibility and proper PPE usage among staff.
- Prepare and manage warehouse supply inventories (packing materials, PPE, spare parts), place orders, and maintain stock levels to avoid production or shipping delays.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships when outsourcing services (equipment repairs, temporary labor), ensure scope of work clarity, safety compliance, and timely completion of contracted tasks.
- Investigate and resolve customer and carrier escalations related to lost shipments, damaged goods, or inventory discrepancies; drive root cause corrective actions and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
- Optimize warehouse layout, slotting, and storage solutions (racking, mezzanine use, bulk locations) to maximize space utilization and reduce travel time for pickers and forklifts.
- Enforce security and loss prevention procedures including access controls, CCTV monitoring collaboration, exception reporting, and daily checks to reduce shrink and unauthorized access.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits and regulatory inspections; prepare inventory and safety documentation for internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Coordinate special projects such as facility expansions, new line installs, or WMS upgrades; act as onsite operations lead to ensure minimal disruption and successful go-live transitions.
