  • Perform precise pick-and-pack operations using RF barcode scanners and WMS-directed workflows to ensure each kit contains the correct items, quantities, lot numbers, and documentation.
  • Stage and prepare kits for production lines, field service technicians, or customer shipments, coordinating with production planners and shipping teams to meet just-in-time (JIT) requirements.
  • Verify components against packing lists and bills of materials, conducting visual and dimensional inspections to ensure quality and completeness prior to sealing kits.
  • Label kits and containers with accurate part numbers, serial numbers, barcodes, expiration dates, and handling instructions in accordance with company SOPs and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate kitting records and update the WMS/ERP system in real time for kit builds, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and offloads to minimize discrepancies.
  • Cycle count kit components regularly and investigate inventory variances, working with inventory control to reconcile discrepancies and adjust par levels.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control checklists during kitting to ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, or customer-specific quality standards.
  • Execute quality hold and segregation procedures for suspect or nonconforming parts found during kitting and escalate issues to quality assurance for disposition.
  • Package kits securely and in compliance with shipping and handling requirements, selecting appropriate packaging materials to protect components and ensure damage-free delivery.
  • Coordinate with procurement and material planners to report low stock, obsolete items, or parts with long lead times that affect kit availability and production continuity.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment (forklift, pallet jack) and hand tools safely to stage materials and move assembled kits to staging or shipping areas.
  • Prioritize multiple kit builds and rush orders during peak periods while maintaining accuracy and meeting SLA targets for turnaround time and on-time delivery.
  • Track kit build KPIs such as accuracy rate, picks per hour, throughput, and on-time completion; participate in daily/weekly performance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective action plans for recurring kit build errors, implementing process changes to reduce defects and improve flow.
  • Train new team members and cross-train warehouse staff on kitting best practices, BOM interpretation, RF scanner workflows, and quality checkpoints.
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitting area with proper labeling, bin locations, and FIFO/FEFO rotation to ensure efficient, accurate builds and reduce search time.
  • Manage serialization, lot control, and traceability requirements for sensitive or regulated components included in kits, ensuring records meet audit standards.
  • Prepare and review kitting documentation for outbound shipments including packing lists, certificates of conformance, and other customer-required paperwork.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—production, procurement, quality, shipping—to resolve material shortages, defective parts, and schedule conflicts impacting kit builds.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, lean workflows, Kanban replenishment, and process standardization to increase kit build efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Assist in demand planning by communicating historical kit usage and trends to planners and buyers to maintain appropriate inventory levels for forecasted needs.
  • Handle special projects such as custom kit configuration, promotional packaging runs, or assembly of prototype kits for pilot production and field trials.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA), PPE requirements, and company safety programs while performing kitting tasks and operating equipment.

Secondary Functions

  • Document and maintain up-to-date kitting procedures, standard work instructions, and quality checklists to support training and audit readiness.
  • Support periodic cycle counts, full physical inventories, and reconciliation activities for kitting-related SKUs and storage locations.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions with inventory control and procurement teams.
  • Provide cross-functional support during peak seasons, including packing, shipping, and receiving to maintain throughput and customer service levels.
  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops and Kaizen events to identify bottlenecks and implement time-saving devices or ergonomic improvements in the kitting area.
  • Communicate kit status, bottlenecks, and material shortages to production planners and supply chain teams to enable timely decisions and mitigations.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)
