Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities including receiving, putaway, storage, inventory management, picking, packing, staging, and shipping to meet production schedules and customer service expectations.
- Lead, coach, schedule, and mentor a team of warehouse associates; conduct daily briefings, assign work, monitor attendance, and maintain a performance-driven, safety-first culture.

- Operate, train others on, and enforce safe use of powered industrial equipment (including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks) and ensure operators maintain valid certifications.
- Maintain and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) — such as orders per hour, lines per hour, dock-to-stock time, inventory accuracy, and on-time shipping — and proactively report metrics to management with action plans for improvement.
- Coordinate daily inbound/outbound logistics with carriers and 3PL partners to optimize dock utilization, reduce demurrage, and manage appointment scheduling and load planning.
- Implement and enforce safety programs and procedures: conduct safety audits, incident investigations, toolbox talks, and ensure timely reporting and corrective actions to meet OSHA and company standards.
- Oversee packaging, labeling, and documentation to maintain compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards (including hazardous materials shipping procedures where applicable).
- Train new hires on standard operating procedures (SOPs), WMS transaction flows, RF scanning, picking methods (zone, batch, wave), and company productivity and safety standards.
- Supervise dock operations including staging, pallet management, trailer loading/unloading, and maintaining staging and staging area accuracy to prevent cross-ships and mis-ships.
- Manage shift transitions through effective handoffs, documentation of open issues, and ensuring continuity of operations between shifts to minimize downtime.
- Lead small process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives such as optimizing slotting, redesigning pick paths, or implementing 5S and lean techniques to increase storage density and throughput.
- Ensure accurate cycle count and physical inventory execution: plan freeze windows, allocate labor for counts, validate discrepancies, and drive resolution with purchasing and operations teams.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and compliance with fire, OSHA, and company housekeeping requirements, and coordinate scheduled maintenance with facilities teams.
- Support onboarding and development by identifying skill gaps, recommending training, and conducting performance reviews and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR.
- Prepare and maintain operational documentation including shift logs, incident reports, training records, equipment inspection checklists, and process change notices.
- Manage small-scale purchasing of operational supplies (packaging materials, PPE, labels) and coordinate with procurement to ensure continuity of supplies without excess inventory.
- Facilitate cross-functional communication with customer service, procurement, transportation, and manufacturing to resolve order issues, expedite shipments, and address inventory shortages.
- Maintain electronic and paper records for audits and customer visits; support internal and external audits with timely, accurate documentation and corrective action follow-up.
- Assist in labor planning and workforce forecasting: estimate daily labor requirements, build shift schedules, and supervise temporary labor during peaks or seasonality.
