Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive waste characterization studies and on-site waste audits, collecting field samples, quantifying waste generation rates by stream (MSW, organics, recyclables, hazardous) and producing detailed, client-ready reports with diversion potential and baseline metrics.

  • Design hazardous waste handling programs and emergency response procedures, advise on classification, labeling, storage, transportation, and disposal options, and ensure alignment with applicable regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Create business cases and financial models including cost-benefit analysis, life-cycle cost estimates, payback calculations and procurement strategies for investments in waste infrastructure (e.g., composting, anaerobic digestion, MRF upgrades, on-site balers).
  • Prepare technical proposals, scopes of work, RFP responses and client presentations that clearly articulate project deliverables, milestones, KPIs and expected environmental and financial outcomes.
  • Develop and implement recycling and organics diversion programs (single-stream, multi-stream, source-separated organics, commercial composting), including stakeholder engagement, collection logistics, route design and vendor selection.
  • Manage vendor and contractor selection and oversight: draft contracts, evaluate bids, negotiate service levels, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory terms.

  • Provide training and capacity building for client staff, building operators and waste handlers on best practices for segregation, contamination reduction, safe handling of hazardous materials and program compliance.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and public outreach campaigns, creating communication materials, workshops and behavior-change initiatives to increase participation and acceptance of new waste programs.
  • Oversee implementation pilots and phased rollouts of waste programs, monitor early performance, capture lessons learned, and refine systems before full-scale deployment.
  • Produce sustainability reports, ESG disclosures and GHG emissions estimates related to waste management (scope 3 considerations, methane reduction opportunities), aligned with standards such as GRI, CDP and local reporting frameworks.
  • Coordinate environmental due diligence for mergers, acquisitions and site closures focusing on legacy waste, contaminated soils, permits, and liabilities associated with hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, dashboards and continuous improvement initiatives to drive down contamination, increase diversion, optimize costs and demonstrate year-over-year progress.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
