Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs that power wellness products, ensuring high availability and low latency for user-facing features.
  • Architect and build mobile health applications (iOS and Android) or mobile SDKs that capture, normalize, and securely transmit health and activity data from phones and wearables.

  • Develop and operate HIPAA-compliant data storage and transmission layers; implement encryption at rest/in transit, access control, and audit logging to meet healthcare privacy requirements.
  • Design and implement FHIR- and HL7-based integrations to exchange clinical data with EHRs and clinical systems; collaborate with interoperability teams on mapping and validation.
  • Build data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) to process time-series and event-based wellness data for analytics and ML.
  • Implement analytics instrumentation and dashboards (product metrics, engagement, health outcomes) using tools like Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Implement personalization and recommendation models (rule-based and ML-driven) that tailor interventions, nudges, and coaching prompts to individual users.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated test suites, linting, and code quality gates to ensure safe, repeatable deployments.
  • Monitor production systems, set up observability (metrics, logs, traces), and respond to incidents with postmortems and remediation plans to improve system reliability.
  • Work closely with clinicians, behavioral scientists, and health coaches to translate intervention protocols into technical requirements and product features.
  • Lead design and implementation of secure authentication and authorization systems (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, token management), and SSO for enterprise wellness customers.
  • Collaborate with product managers to scope features, produce technical estimates, and ensure alignment with product roadmaps and regulatory timelines.
  • Conduct security and privacy assessments, assist with third-party vendor risk reviews, and implement mitigations based on findings.
  • Lead pilot deployments and enterprise integrations with corporate clients, manage technical onboarding, and adapt platform capabilities to client-specific workflows.

  • Mobile development expertise (Swift for iOS, Kotlin/Java for Android) or experience building cross-platform React Native / Flutter apps focused on health data capture.
  • Experience integrating with wearables and health platforms (Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, Fitbit, Garmin, Oura) and normalizing sensor/time-series data.
