Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Oversee daily studio operations, including opening/closing procedures, cleanliness, equipment readiness, and inventory control to ensure a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for members and instructors.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and optimize weekly class timetables across all yoga styles and formats to meet member demand, maximize studio utilization, and align with business KPIs.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, and evaluate yoga instructors and substitute teachers; develop individualized improvement plans and conduct regular teaching observations and performance reviews.
  • Create and maintain consistent curriculum standards, class outlines, and teacher resources to ensure alignment with studio pedagogy, brand voice, and safety protocols across all classes and workshops.
  • Lead and deliver ongoing professional development, in-house trainings, and teacher practice sessions focused on cueing, sequencing, hands-on assists, trauma-informed care, inclusivity, and alignment-based techniques.
  • Serve as the point person for student inquiries, conflict resolution, complaint handling, and escalation, applying de-escalation techniques and service recovery strategies to preserve client relationships and studio reputation.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety best practices, including emergency response plans, injury reporting, incident documentation, and verification of instructor certifications (CPR, First Aid, RYT/ERYT).
  • Manage payroll and scheduling for part-time and full-time instructors, track compensation accuracy, and ensure substitution coverage to prevent class cancellations.
  • Monitor and analyze studio performance metrics—class attendance, retention rates, membership conversions, and revenue per class—and implement targeted action plans to improve outcomes.
  • Lead special events, workshops, retreats, and community classes in collaboration with marketing to increase brand visibility, generate incremental revenue, and foster a strong local yoga community.
  • Drive membership sales and retention strategies by collaborating with the front desk and sales team on promotions, membership packages, newcomer onboarding flows, and follow-up protocols.
  • Ensure accurate front-desk and point-of-sale processes for class bookings, membership plans, pass usage, refunds, and retail sales while supporting staff training on software systems.
  • Manage studio budgets for supplies, instructor payments, and program costs; approve purchases within delegated authority and optimize spend to meet financial targets.
  • Build and nurture partnerships with local businesses, wellness practitioners, and community organizations to expand referral networks and create collaborative programming.
  • Act as an on-the-floor teaching resource by instructing classes and workshops as needed, modeling best practices, and maintaining an active teaching schedule to stay connected with students and staff.
  • Develop and implement accessibility and inclusivity initiatives—modifications, props access, language and signage adjustments—to ensure diverse communities can safely participate.
  • Oversee studio marketing activations in coordination with marketing or regional teams: content suggestions, event promotion plans, social media highlights, and community outreach strategies.
  • Maintain and update studio documentation—onboarding manuals, training guides, safety checklists, class templates, and policy handbooks—so knowledge is institutionalized and scalable.
  • Coordinate teacher substitution lists, call-out protocols, and contingency staffing plans to minimize disruptions in programming and preserve consistent delivery.
  • Ensure all equipment (mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, sound systems) is maintained, sanitized, replaced as needed, and stored according to health standards to preserve longevity and safety.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to studio leadership on program performance, staffing needs, compliance issues, and growth opportunities with recommended action plans.

Secondary Functions

  • Support outreach campaigns by representing the studio at community fairs, corporate wellness visits, and local events to attract new members and partnerships.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation by piloting specialty classes (prenatal, restorative, therapeutic, chair yoga) and evaluating demand, instructor readiness, and revenue potential.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to align local studio programs with company-wide initiatives, promotions, and quality standards.
  • Assist with recruiting efforts by screening instructor candidates, coordinating interview schedules, and administering demo class evaluations.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Registered Yoga Teacher certification (RYT 200 minimum; RYT 500 or 300 preferred) with documented teaching hours.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple yoga styles (Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Prenatal, Therapeutic) and the ability to standardize class content.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (current) and familiarity with basic emergency response protocols.
  • Experience with studio management and scheduling software (e.g., Mindbody, WellnessLiving, Glofox, Zen Planner).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements
